Imagine having no magnetosphere 🤡 or having a toxic atmosphere 🤢

Yeah well honestly the lack of a magnetosphere is the least of your problems. Most radiation on martian surface is blocked anyways by whatever thin atmosphere there is.

The real problem is the difficulty to get water, the difficulty to grow basically anything, the difficulty to set up functioning greenhouses, the difficulty of … whatever.

I think the books were written before 2000?

Do they have solar panels, internet?

Because that would definitely make a lot of things far faaaar easier. Also, i’m not sure, but i think a lot of the great discoveries/data measurements were taken after 2000? Like, mineral-water in rocks across the planet.

Yea they are 90s books. I remember wind turbines bur not solar panels or internet on Mars, but it’s been a few years since I read them so I could be forgetting. Even if it’s dated now a days I’d still say its worth a read for a science or Mars enthusiast

yeah, i know the books are written with well intent, but i kinda don’t want to create a false image of what it’s like to live on mars based on these books.

After all, living on mars today would probably be entirely different than what’s written in the books, partially to scientific/technological progress, partially because of our changed understanding of what a realistic society on mars could look like. So i’m trying to rely on new information, and create adequate, up-to-date, imaginations.
