“Democrats are at their core racist. They are at their core deeply bigoted,” he said.

    Always projection.

    Some “fun” from Ted Cruz:

    • “Every bit as racist as the Klansmen in white sheets” (in speaking about CRT, while speaking at the Faith and Freedom Forum, an event for a group that considers itself a bridge between the tea party and evangelicals. Against same sex marriage, medical marijuana, abortion, big supporters of Israel, and is part of the christian fundamentalist movement.
    • To an arab audience: "“I am saddened to see that some here, not everyone, but some here, are so consumed with hate… If you will not stand with Israel and the Jews, then I will not stand with you.”
    • According to his book - “Unwoke: How to Defeat Cultural Marxism in America”, BLM is a cultural Marxist movement with goals beyond addressing racial injustic, labeling them as “anti-American”.
    • Watch him call CRT racism on the Senate floor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHpa4XICDvI
    • Cruz refers to Obergefell v Hodges as “clearly wrong”
    • A bit about his anti-trans attack ads can be found here, bonus quote: “‘Don’t want boys playing girls’ sports’”
    • He said transgendered folks should “only use restrooms at home and avoid public facilities.”
    • Ejected a trans teen from his rally

    Bonus racism on twitter:

… is there a reason anyone should care about or respect his opinion on anything?

    (Edit: Typo in Hodges)

I don’t think it does. I think they probably view it as “the left calls us bigoted for no reason, so we’ll call them bigoted for no reason. Gotta troll the libs!”. They’re just so deep in the muck that they don’t realize how abhorrent their views are

I fully agree with that part. I meant I think he could not care less about culture wars or their ideological content, as long as he can exploit them for his purposes. If his state flipped and Democrats were calling for blood, I would not be at all surprised if he switched to dialog about “sticking it to the reactionary neo-cons.” There have been many bills against which he voted, that his base wanted, and which passed anyway. He got on social media and celebrated the passage of those bills. That’s the hypocrisy that I think fools his base rather than the idea that he and his base actually believe progressive values are bigoted.

The guy who ignores all the rape threats towards his daughter when she came out as bi? Saying a vague condemnation and some whataboutisms? That’s a “blast?”

Rafael Edward Cruz, I’m going to use whichever bathroom I feel like using, whenever I have to go. I may also use your gravestone, if I have any piss left after Reagan and Trump’s gravestones. You’re not that important, plus you’ll prolly be buried in Cancun.

I mean, he’s being a hypocrite for sure, but Harris’ remarks absolutely were bigoted. As much as I liked Walz, passing over Buttigieg solely because he was gay, despite his exceptional TV presence in the months leading up to the election, is pretty fucking damning. And I agree with Cruz’s take that Pete’s sexuality wouldn’t have even moved the needle, the issues with Harris’ campaign were all policy based.

Do you seriously think the reason she lost was just because she was a black woman? Of course it was her policies, most specifically how little her policies differed from Biden.

It was a whole host of things. Not limited to racism, sexism, lack of diverse policy, a feeling of alienation from lack of a thorough primary season, and just plain old apathy from people demanding perfection from their all-too-human politicians.

There was never ever one single thing that, by itself, would have doomed or saved the election. Well, maybe a more engaged populace, but of course that’s also the politicians fault for not making people care about their own futures.

Every time I saw her talk about what she wanted to do as president, it sounded like she was trying to be Trump. Anti-immigration, pro-military, pro-genocide. Having Republicans in her cabinet?

Listen I know we’d all like that to be a significant factor but all evidence shows it was not a significant factor in voting trends. A very small portion of the population cared about it. One which was rather over represented on this website. I would like to think it would be bigger today however.
