I meant its branding, not Amazon owned, I should clear that up though it is misleading as written.
I was answering forking and how realistic it is. You’re changing the conversation into specifics around chrome.
As I mentioned, this would be (not is, because its not even at a GA state) drastically simpler to fork, and there are many forks of a substantially more complicated browser already.
Nintendo has issued strikes over a wide variety of youtube content for use of their music, from dedicated fan creators using Legend of Zelda or Super Smash Bros music over Lets Play style videos, reviews, etc, to an entire channel that hosted just Nintendo music (GilvaSunner). 2022 saw over 2200 strikes in just that year.
They are famously protective of their IP, including in situations of fair use..
Edit: Just to mention, the copyright act still applies to the federal government, as well as the state government. This has been in place since 1990. The joke of a supreme court we have now muddied the waters in 2020, but its more about state sovereign immunity in federal court, not about federal agency & copyright.
Yes, claims can be brought, damages can be required, and not any use can be considered fair use. Notably, damaging the brand by negatively impacting market value through the presentation excludes as fair use.
Iridium, cromite, edge, brave, thorium, vivaldi, pale moon…
And this is a drastically simpler browser that would be in swift 6.
(Pedantry incoming)
Paperwhite is actually Amazon branding. E-Ink is a brand as well, owned by the E Ink Corporation. The generic name would be electronic paper or e-paper.
Edit: Clarity.
I live in the US, so I’m unfortunately all too aware. My options are dialup, DSL with speeds I had 20+ years ago, or a cable provider (not Comcast).
Even if they aren’t viable (for example, the nonsensical DSL provider I mentioned), they may still have an offering. Mine is trying to give away netflix subs (with speeds that are barely usable). Doesn’t change the message to the ISP though.
Thats google though, with the added ability to put it direct into an extremely common OS (Android). With ladybird, you’ve got an apparent neocon and 3 years currently planned for a GA release (2028). Its future is already pretty uncertain regardless of sponsorship.
So when they do just fork it?
I likely won’t touch it anyway, but it is fully open source, so it can be forked easily. With the transition to Swift I suspect there would be plenty of devs who could take things forward if they wanted to.
Sorry which are we talking about the rejected the PR, DHH or kling?
I suspect its DHH just making sure
Edit: Found it
Kling rejected with: “This project is not an appropriate arena to advertise your personal politics.”
For SerenityOS documentation to use a singular they to not assume gender.
Edit 2: For the record, this is even more stupid than you think. The documentation was written with gendered language for a male reader only in mind.
“Hey, I fixed your bad writing”
“POLITICS?!1?!%?!”
The tweet about Kirk has some firm context with this. I’d call it pretty dang likely that kling is a fan…
Its sponsorship only of an open source browser, with no telemetry, advertising, crypto, etc, etc built in.
Sponsors get listed as sponsors, thats it.
In October 2023, local news station ABC 10 reported that the Davis Joint Unified School District filed for a temporary restraining order against Bourne following a spate of bomb threats to local schools, libraries, and even the homes of educators.
Ahah, now I see why I remembered this nitwit!
Yeah, I expressed the same in another comment. Its impossible to move left if moving right is the only way to get elected. That isn’t the same thing as saying stop if it gets a little better, just that goals need to be achievable.
Over 250 years of injustice can’t be corrected by one person in a single term. It just isn’t realistic.
I think my favorite example is Brooklyn 99, and the Jake/Amy relationship.
First season introduces the idea (but really later on in the season that its apparent it could be more), season 2 is will they won’t they until a kiss at the end, season 3 they start a relationship, season 4 finishes with them moving in together, season 5 gets a proposal and the wedding, etc.
They take time developing the relationship as an idea, but they don’t do the silly “Oh no, misunderstandings made us break up again!” crap, just a progressing relationship over the course of the series.

… is there a reason anyone should care about or respect his opinion on anything?

Well only one sex offender is dead, so… That one.
If you mean which statue is which, left is Trump and right is Epstein.
I thought I was clarifying without going into detail on the definition of an extranet, I don’t even know how I’d assume gender?
People are desperate and status-quo neoliberals are now intolerable to the masses. In a competition between someone who talks big and promises change and someone who seems like they aren’t going to do anything, the desperate will take the risk even if it’s incredibly stupid.
So I’m going to land on a slightly different take. Every time something doesn’t end up going as far as was wanted, every time a specific thing doesn’t meet exactly what someone wants, everyone on the left (myself included) is pissed off about it. Right here in this thread, including replies to my with nonsense I don’t have the energy or interest in replying to, are people attacking Harris - not acknowledging what was wrong, or even acknowledging what was right. I’m going to very briefly hit on a few things that were done with Biden/Harris:
I’m not going to keep going (there are more), just pointing out some positives here. And what was the response right in this very thread? Even your comment (which is the super-duper-friendly version of what others are saying):
She was problematic and pretending she was doesn’t help.
Lets recap - in 2015 while working as an AG, her office as representatives of the Dept. of Corrections worked to block gender affirming care for an inmate. Absolutely a problem. But lets not forget the rest of that - the DoC agreed to change its policy, and just 2 years later, a CA inmate became the first prisoner to get gender affirming surgery out of all the US.
That second part gets left out. That part is a win. Still the first part is repeated - including here - ad nauseum. Was it right? Of course not. Did Harris agree with it? Also no, if we accept the statements of herself and others that she worked toward that agreement that was made behind the scenes. So what should she have done? Gotten fired? Quit? Publicly speak against her office and get fired?
And yet, the response is “BUT THIS HAPPENED!!!”. So let me ask this - if you need to get the votes to stop more horrendous shit from happening, where do you get votes from? If the people you are even trying to support won’t vote for you because you didn’t, I don’t know, quit in protest and accomplish nothing, then whose votes do you go for? The only option left is so-called moderates. This is why I complain about “purity tests”. All they do is push things to the right, because anyone looking for purity is not going to vote for you regardless.
So lets look at those election statistics from 2024 for a second. We saw a 1.5% decline in voter turnout. Turnout was lower by age group - which also coincides with more leftist opinion (skews younger) and right (skews older). Older voters (65+) turned out in droves by comparison to other age groups.
At the same time, leading up to things, we had groups (Green Party) specifically targeting Palestinian Americans in Michigan with the goal of Harris losing the state. Not Green winning, but making Harris lose. We saw people even on Lemmy encouraging others to not vote in protest, or to vote 3rd party in protest, supposedly to tell them “Neoliberals aren’t good enough!”. Add in those purity tests - is anyone good enough? Will the Democrats ever be able to get those voters?
The only indication that its possible is when there is RCV (others are fine too, I’m going with RCV here because of NYC). Mamdani won the ticket! And yes, there are jackasses (Schumer and the like) who continue to be shitheads about it.
But outside of NYC, a drastically more progressive city than most of the US, what indication is there that leftist voters (of any variety) will vote Democrat, when their actions more closely match purity tests rather than pushing away from the right?
Thats the part that stands out to me. That is the issue. The constant “NOT GOOD ENOUGH!” just… excludes as a potential voter. Which just means… who is left who will vote that is more progressive than maga other than capitalist dems that don’t want to be hateful but maybe are misguided, and non-maga repubs? And then we have a shift to the right in communication to gain those voters.
Sorry, kind of a rant there, but its what I think is happening. I also know you agree on Harris being the far better option, this is more about those who “showed what great leftists they are” with a 3rd party vote or abstaining from voting in protest. The problem (as I see it).
Consider applying for asylum in Canada and Mexico
Already in process for Canada, Mexico is a non-starter for her for personal experience reasons. Aside from Brazil (and Argentina), she’s also got some work going for a digital nomad visa in the EU. We’ll see where that lands. I’ve got friends of the family from Greece, and Portugal with some in-laws, to line up proof of housing as well.
Fingers crossed that any of the options work out soon.
An intranet is a local and private computer network.
The internet is a network of intranets, or more accurately, a network by which computers of disparate networks can connect.
Intra, meaning inside or within. Inter, meaning between or among.
Interdepartmental communication would be communication between departments, while intradepartmental communication would be within a single department.
The inter vs intra is the difference here.
I wish I had that answer.
