That he keeps claiming it was about him, despite being told it wasn’t is just so odd.
But hey, mirrors how they talk about sneerclub as their personal nemesis (despite SC talking about all lot of them and now awful.systems being more general).
Is it really odd, though? If someone wrote a play where the main character was named after me, was doing the same work I did, and was obsessed with the same particular field of study I was, and then the author tried to claim the play wasn’t “about” me, I’d press X to doubt too.
Well you would because, like Yud, you jumped to your own conclusions without actually reading the fucking article.
Which article? You mean the linked Bluesky thread? Or the cringeworthy OkCupid post linked from it? It’s because I read the thread that I thought “yeah, in Yud’s position, I’d doubt the author’s protestations too” 😆
The one that includes this:
So I responded in the SL4 (which for the life of me I can’t dig up) & went to the trouble of emailing Yudkowski directly, explaining that 1) no I didn’t write about your life but 2) if you happen to be in NYC, I’d love it if he’d attend the play. I also attached a copy of the script in the email 7/x
(which is way more good faith than Yud deserves, btw)
I thought “yeah, in Yud’s position […]
Best stop this thinking before you suffer the same levels of delusion of reference and/or grandeur.
Yeah if you read the reviews the singularity is more a bit of a godot situation than something Yudi fears and has doubts over, which is a bit different than Yud who created the ‘we must make sure it is friendly’ institute earlier.
Bit like making a play about Jack Thompson but in the play he reviews video games.
easter egg: contains a link to sneersub, specifically this
I feel this used to get linked a lot when yud came up.
