    for anyone coming here to kneejerk defend calibre’s shithead developer because mindless advocacy is the only use you have for open source software:

    • we don’t give a shit that the LLM crap is optional, it’s still damaging
    • we don’t give a shit that the LLM crap might run locally, it’s still supporting a system built on mass theft
    • there’s no such thing as an open source LLM you fucking clown
    • please enjoy the calibre dev repeatedly stepping on rakes that smack him in the face when multiple computer security professionals showed him 10+(!) severe vulnerabilities in a setuid root mount program nobody asked for that he implemented for frankly fucked personal reasons over the strong objections of his own community
    • if you use calibre in a server context then none of this is workable, but calibre’s developer only cares about his personal desktop and he wanted slop so fuck what anybody else wants I guess

    e: correction, rolling over and exposing your belly for generative fucking AI of all things isn’t mid. it’s fucking broken behavior, especially right after similarly unpopular garbage (crypto, metaverses) pushed by the exact same people failed in the market because the target audience mostly just sneered at it and refused to buy in

    like I’m sorry you feel like you’re forced to buy CoD 7 or whatever other AAA games succumb to this shit, but have you considered expanding your tastes past garbage? if you want to say fuck you to Tim in a language he understands, go play a good epic game or a a great epic game for free instead of paying $80 or $200 or whatever the fuck these jokers think it should cost for fucking trash.

    the first post is the ladybird guy personally welcoming one of the main hyprland transphobes to browser development because he landed a PR in ladybird

    Brendan Eich is the Brave guy but he was also Mozilla’s CEO (and he’s the guy who invented JavaScript and made it fucking suck) when he got caught making a donation to an anti-LGBT organization and got asked to step down. since then he’s used Brave as a vehicle for cryptocurrencies and LLMs.

    Proton’s CEO expressed support for the Republican Party in the US in a public post, and then most likely paid for some shithead to write a medium article unconvincingly arguing that he did nothing of the sort; both the original post and the shitty medium article have been discussed before in the Stubsack.

    lunduke is a far-right crank with a long history who’s currently ranting on Twitter about how open source projects need to eliminate all the wokes; FUTO has done free marketing for ladybird in the past and is now doing the same for lunduke
