I’ve never done any drugs or alcohol or anything in my life. I’m in a lot of pain and life is miserable but I have no desire to put poison into my body either.

Not going to lie, it’s pretty rough, I’m currently between jobs too… a double whammy of unpleasant awareness.

I’ve never drink alcohol or taken any drugs in my life.

Later years have me seriously looking how to buy weed and considering taking it because they say it’s good for anxiety. Sadly is not legal here and I’m too asocial to even know people who smoke it.

      don’t do drugs alone.

drugs can be fine🤷 - but alone it can just make shit way worse; especially modern weed’s got way too much thc (which increases anxiety) and too little cdb (which decreases anxiety)

I’m going to disagree and say definitely try weed alone if you think it’ll help. It probably will. You can dip your toes in slowly. I started smoking and it REALLY, REALLY helped keep me going to the gym regularly, because it made the music, etc…so much better that it just kept things interesting. Among other benefits (helps with pain, anxiety, etc…).

If you decide to go ahead with it then remember the two most important things for a good experience: (mind)set and setting.

It’s important to be in the right headspace and in a place you feel comfortable with. When you’re more experienced this can be applied more loosely but for early experiments it’s very important.

I’m diagnosed and had a prescription of some form in 2007 but stopped part way in from what I thought were side effects and the process of getting back on it in my mid-20s after realizing I’m a dead weight without them is like pulling teeth.

If by some miracle one of the countless disasters we’ve teed ourselves up for don’t kill me, the stress of watching society repetitively and gleefully kick the can down the road definitely will.

It is tbh at least the decline of the west. We (germans) are not far behind the U.S. even if there is a different rethoric around in our home. Social spendings are cut, investment into renewables is cut while weapons spending increases. The strongly xenophobic narrative of our far right is willingly taken over by our “moderates” all while ignoring our complicity in the horrors perpetrated against Palestine. If we had any shreds of decency (and thus imo hope for reform) left in our society our governments should be able to put at least the tiniest amount of pressure on the israeli government. Yet we do not. Instead i have to read on our “most neutral” (tagesschau) news source that while the atrocieties are not justifiable, it is ok to continue the support of israel with weapons like atomic submarines because those might not be used against Palestinians. I am not kidding you.

The decline of America is certainly very visible, but if you look at a lot of trends, we’re heading to a bad place. Climate catastrophe is coming for us, and with that, we have the rise of unrest in areas that are becoming more food insecure and/or are being disastered out, creating climate refugees. We’ve got an increase in bellicosity from rich powers trying to stake out claims while they still have time, and the billionaires are all building expensive bunkers…

So I kind of wonder what would happen if a country just decided to ignore all patents and copyrights one day. Like just gathered all the intel they could on making all the medications out there, spin up a factory making their generic version then just only used those moving forward for their country. Maybe even selling it to other countries as well if there is demand. Clearly companies would be pissed because it would undercut their profits but what can they really do. Sueing them only works if the country cares to pay, and I don’t see many people wanting to go to war with another country because they brought the costs of medication down.

They’d have to get other governments to try to sanction them, but if my options were to sanction a country, or buy medications at a much lower price thereby bringing down healthcare costs and increasing access to healthcare for our population… Maybe enough countries would just let it go and other countries would join in on making their own ignoring the patents as well.

Literally how the generic pharma industry works. Companies specialising in generics often push against the limits of IP and/or ignore them to bring cheap generics to market, and deal with lawsuits (or not) later. See Israel, India, and Switzerland.

Many countries do that. Countries like India have limited patent protection. It’s why medications are so cheap there.

      Hell yeah.

I’m on several prescriptions and two of them are from my psychiatrist. So for me it’s not just the weed. And my response to it can be pretty strain-specific.

But god damn does it help a lot.
