I gotta say this can be entertaining. I work for a British company so have to watch my spelling (i wont change my vocabulary but spelling is the least I can do) so it’s always amusing when one of them presents something with their spellchecker complaining about the their word that they spelled correctly for them.
Except “artefact”. Our artifact repo is American software and you need to spell “artifact” the American way for it to work. I do Americanize that everywhere in a vain attempt to reduce user error

I imagine your spell check failing is due to the wrong english dictionasry being used.

For firefox this is easily fixed by adding the one you want.
