Pinning this post for two days or until whenever I remember to unpin it because I got a report reading “Rule 1—this is not remotely LAMF”.

    • It’s textbook leopards. This man moved to Russia because he liked the way they eat LGBTQ+ people’s faces and was blindsighted when his face got eaten.
    • The only thing that isn’t funny about this is that innocent Ukrainians have to fight him now.
    • Russia is a backwards, imperialist, genocidal septic tank of a country.

It’s still kind of grimly funny if you think about those Ukranians’ opponent being some dumbass who didn’t even get taught how to soldier in a language he understood before he was scraped from the bottom of the barrel and turned into their cannon fodder.

As it turns out, being wilfully stupid can be fatal.

You can get a DA if your actions lead to your children not reproducing, but generally DAs are not awarded if you kill someone else.

So if his kids die in a Russian trench before reproducing, he would be eligible for a DA. A this time I’d give him a Honorable Mention at most.

”It didn’t come as a surprise to me,” she said of his joining the military. “He always spoke so highly of the country, its president, and its people, and he has a strong passion for doing the right thing.

That’s a weird way to spell crimes against humanity, but I guess there’s that Texan scholastic excellence for you.

It’s easy to be in a progressive country like Canada and praise the Soviet Union or Russia. I think deep down they know that they’d have a miserable life in Russia or China, so at best they make up reasons for why they can’t move, even though the power of the passports and wages in the countries most of them are from allows them to easily do that, which can’t be said about Russian or Chinese citizens trying to get a visa to even travel to one of the Western countries.

I (Texan) said hi in the parking lot to a coworker I hadn’t met before. He proceeded to tell me about how he lived on each of the coasts until those areas one-by-one “went to shit.” Then, he explained to me that he had to get away from all the filth that moved in to those areas and that’s why he chose to move to Texas. “God, guns, and freedom as far as the eye can see.” I truly regretted engaging that man with a simple greeting.

A bad interaction like this shouldn’t ruin my day, but I work in public education, which means this guy is integral in supporting our community and raising our children. What has ruined every day for me since that interaction was learning that he works in HR. I’m so fucking dreading this upcoming school year.

Another Texan here that was in education but I got out because of people like the one you described (and a general feeling of burn out).

Sorry to hear that about the interaction and the fact that the guy is integral/HR. I’m sort of amazed that he didn’t change or grow as a person after having traveled and moved around like that, but I guess that goes to show you can’t really teach someone who doesn’t want to learn. Having grown up in Texas I can understand that way of conservative thinking, but luckily thanks to having been exposed to different ways of thinking and cultures, I can never empathize with that kind of thinking. I’m tired at this point and if a republican coworker of mine really wants to fight me over how great their cult is, I’m just gonna turn the cheek and walk away, like I don’t think it’s worth the effort anymore to even engage with them over politics.

He wont even make it that far. Being a Russian conscript is hell even more so when you don’t know Russian. He will be a victim of hazing and bulling the entire time with no one to help him and will ironically be raped. He will be blowing his brains out before we get to see him smeared across a field.

I may have messed this up.

The story goes like this (exaggerating, biased, etc…):

                  They: haha, hope they’ll die

Me: (moralizing) do not wish death on the internet

They: you’re so soft, I ban you

Me: (arrogantly) do it, but your peers (supporters in this thread) will find a reason for hoping that you die

No, as they would be your very peers who wish death on some reason.

Since I’m not in a fascist distoortion field, I don’t envision myself falling in love with the idea of moving to Russia. So there’s a zero percent chance of my very peers being a bunch of Russians.

For funzies, come up with a plausible scenario that would actually worry me.

They’ll find a reason for you.

See above. Paint a picture that would actually make me give a fuck about your point.

Do you even know how LAMF works?

Yes. A bit earlier, I was taking the piss out of some dumb-ass from Texas and his stupid wife, who are in the middle of a LAMF situation as we speak.

If he actually goes to the frontline to participate in assaults, he’ll be in a position of power to kill Ukrainian soldiers and medics who are only trying to defend their country from an invasion. So personally, yes I do hope for him (or any of his invading “comrades”) to die before he gets the opportunity to kill any Ukrainians living their lives in their own fucking country, and I feel zero shame about it nor do see why someone would.

I like the theme of idiotry. Let’s unpack.

This guy’s an idiot. For whatever reason, let’s not focus on the MAGA stuff here. I’m an idiot because I try to moralize somewhere in Lemmy. You’re an idiot, because you support another idiot who’s hoping someone they don’t know die, while arguing with the me-idiot about guy-idiot.

What do we have, if we assume that we’re all idiots? Since you’re less of an idiot among us all, you’ll draw the picture

I assume his sons, who can use the internet, warned him that he will likely die.

let me also predict that when he dies, the family will get a MIA letter and no compensation.
