I don’t understand the artcraft hype to be honest. Getting creative software right is hard. Everything has to work reliably and one bad function can ruin my day. Design professionals run on a crunch with little time to mess around. So in my opinion, the affinity suite - which is free to use - should be the first option to look at when moving away from adobe. Canva ownership aside. I the free to use licence is really generous.
Saw a couple of videos showing the Photoshop/Illustrator clones in action. The posters were doing screen vids of the action and were raving about how much it did. Looked promising.
Getting whiplashed now. Might just have to just go build the damn things from source, instead of trusting rando YT reviewers and internet blogs.
Back in 2019, Elon Musk was shilling for his robotaxis that definitely existed. He advertised that they cost $38k, but if you bought one and let it run autonomously as a taxi, you would make a “total gross profit” of $30k a year. How generous of them to sell you a magical investment that produces 80% annual returns instead of, I dunno, keeping those massive profits for themselves.
If Anthropic’s AI was truly capable of autonomously producing a Photoshop clone, Anthropic would have done it themselves. They would create new software, as well as higher quality replacements for existing software. Now that they have an AI that can prove mathematical theorems (albeit with horrible writing), look at how they do not hesitate to use it to snipe mathematicians and get a theorem first. They would have every incentive to do this for software, and unlike math, they would actually make a good amount of money from it.
Why would Anthropic let some random upstarts make a Photoshop clone, when they can use their far greater resources and (supposedly) far more capable internal AI to reap the rewards for themselves? Also, what the fuck does Artcraft mean by “reverse engineering”?

Ah, but those margins are chump change for a firm as important as Anthropic. Your proposal will need far more zeros than that (and a minus sign in front).
so wait, the slop-slingers weren’t actually decompiling Adobe code (which would be more efficient, if possibly illegal), they just looked at the interface and asked Claude to replicate what they saw???
That was my journey with Artcraft
We reverse engineered Adobe!
Wow, that’s really impressive, must’ve been years of work by very dedicated Adobe haters, let’s see
We asked Claude…
Oh, so you didn’t. You’re just lying. You didn’t reverse engineer shit. Huh. I guess you can just say stuff now?
Current hypecycle certainly wants you to think that you can drag and drop an application folder into claude and it will come up with rust code for it, but they are at best using mcp access to existing decompilation software and at worse whatever the hell these Artcraft people are supposed to be doing.
