I’m sorry for ranting, but I need to let the steam off.

The amount of redditors defending Elon Musk is beyond pissing me off. This piece of shit literally sieg hailed and people are defending him like crazy, some going even to the length of saying it isn’t a nazi salute because the arm angle is wrong…

The thread that finally pissed me off to this point is this one in r/linux_gaming.

The sheer amount of libs that think there shouldn’t be politics in a fucking Linux subreddit is beyond baffling, and the amount of people just defending Musk just pisses me off to no end. At this point I’m done with that shit ass platform. I’ll delete my account after I bookmark some of the actual useful threads I saved over the years. FUCKING HELL.

generally don’t give a shit about reddit overall, big lib to neocon spaces overall, but recently even heard that (the mods? at) r/antiwork (which. i don’t give them any cred for being serious at all) went off the deep end in lumping “ccp” (i guess talking about rednote小红书) and trumpers/alt right/conservatives together. lmfao. apparently a snarky comments within their community about it because like clearly that’s stupid af

It really is surprising though. Every subreddit that I’m subscribed to is either doing it or discussing it.

Like fuck musk, I moved to Mastodon when he started banning links to Mastodon and I’m glad to see people taking a stand, but by the same time when everyone on Reddit starts saying the same thing, even if you agree with it it’s a little weird because it only used to happen when it’s the most insane consent manufacturing horseshit

A frequent issue i see with “apolitical” people is that in reality they reinforce the status quo (ruling political ideology) and they are hostile to any effort to try to circumvent it because it’s seen as political and they’re against any politics. It’s sort of a deadlock because they arent aware of just how political they are actually being by doing nothing.

The same white liberal crowd that wanted mediation between Black Americans and the KKK. “Let’s just talk this out and find a middle ground guys”

For many issues, I’ll sit it out of I don’t feel like I have enough knowledge to weigh in properly. I’ve increasingly started avoiding news for the sake of my mental health. There are many reasons to be unable to be involved with political matters.

All the tech bros sucking musk off are infuriating.

Remember though, reddit is like, what, 70% bots? I mean come on, there’s barely anything organic on that platform anymore. I’m just about ready to delete reddit as well. It’s just a mindless timesink.

Certainly feels like it. I keep seeing subreddits turn into massive hiveminds overnight. One day everything looks normal, next day something big happens and suddenly a majority of users will parrot basically the same talking points (even in threads where they are off-topic) and act extremely aggressive towards anyone who goes against the grain.

Damn near every thread just feels like bots posting based on sentiment. One day, ever user loves idea XYZ but the very same topic on the next day every user hates idea XYZ. None of it feels organic or genuine. Once I learned about dead internet theory and read Manufacturing Consent, it’s easy to see how the vast majority of social media is just nonsense bs

I visit there pretty regularly and I haven’t really seen much of that. Tons of subs talking about banning all Twitter links and ripping into him. I also unfollowed all mainstream subs years ago. There’s still some good leftist subs there. The Deprogram sub, “moving to norther Korea,” sino, late stages capitalism. More and more “general leftist” subs are going farther and farther left.

I mean reddits still full of shit libs and chuds but it’s not that hard to avoid them. I get enough out of the leftist subs to make it worth it.

I barely use reddit anymore except for a few subs I follow on the app Stealth, which doesn’t have a login feature, so I don’t really interact over there unless I’m really compelled to and when I’m on my PC.

Using it on my browser I see a lot more positives with a lot of subs banning Twitter, it’s just that of the few that I actually care about, like r/linux_gaming that I use to keep on with the Linux gaming side, defending Musk is so prevalent it absolutely pisses me off. Not only that, but there’s also ableism on full display on that thread, and every now and then there’s always sinophobia there. But maybe I’m naive to expect tech bros to be even 1% decent on average. I guess I expected better from the open source community.

More and more “general leftist” subs are going farther and farther left.

Yeah that’s an upside I have seen too, specially on r/latestagecapitalism. I think I saw them doing a pretty hard turn left in the past year where the amount of actually good leftist posts have been increasing, which is always great to see.

I have been seeing more blatantly pro-China posts on those subs as well. I think RedNote has had a significant impact on them. I see videos popping up on reddit that are obviously from there.

I deleted my account months ago and haven’t missed it once. Twitter at least still shows me insightful information sometimes, cause of who I’m tuned into. Reddit for me had become basically just arguing with imperialists, if my comments weren’t insta-shadow-deleted on bigger subs or if I didn’t get banned on one sub or another for challenging the genocidal zionist narrative or the “Russia is cartoon evil and inexplicably decided to be as evil as possible” narrative.

If someone can get value out of it / can deprogram others effectively on there, more power to em. But for me, it was a healthy one to cut off.

I’ve been meaning to delete my account there for a while because I barely uses it other than to keep informed on a few subreddits. It just got to a point where at least now I have an even better excuse to delete it.

Twitter at least still shows me insightful information sometimes, cause of who I’m tuned into.

I recently deleted my Twitter, tho I wasn’t using it since the temporary ban here in Brasil. And even tho it was also relevant for me since it also had insightful information, I couldn’t take the sheer amount of nazi posting that would show up to me there.

Part of my experience there have been like this too, plus the fact that I got told that my country deserved a US backed military coup. 🤡

I would recommend using archive.is on the useful threads, last time there was a reddit migration a lot of useful things disappeared when people nuked their accounts and I suspect that more people will do the same in the future.
