🎉🎉🎉🎉 It’s Friday!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
The topic of this discussion is: anything.
Anything exciting going on in your life? Things got you down? Did you try a new recipe that you’d like to share? etc.
I grew up in the Northeast USA and have fond memories of snow, snowmen, sledding, skiing, and digging out the big piles of snow left by the plow to make cozy forts (somehow they didn’t collapse and kill us). Then I moved to the southern US for 18+ years. Now that I’ve been back in the Northeast for a few years, I still get a little giddy when it snows. It’s beautiful and soaks up all of the sound, making the woods around us even quieter.
Our son is 2 and apparently has the same zest for snow as I do. He can’t get enough of it. He has a sled under the Christmas tree, but until then we’re just pulling him around on a snow shovel.
Sounds like the sled will be a hit!
My big Zenith/Stirling brush is breaking in super well. I still might prefer the Omega 10048 as a boar brush, but I’m glad to have this in my rotation.
In other brush-related news, I ordered a TurnNShave Quartermoon synthetic knot the first week of December to set in a handle I purchased from u/Priusaurus over on Reddit.
For whatever reason Milton (TnS owner) didn’t get a notification about my order for over a week and a half, so he was late shipping it out.
He generously gave me an additional knot (tuxedo) for free to make up for the inconvenience, so I had to/got to source another handle this week. Really looking forward to setting these knots, it’s something I’ve not yet done. I’m also very excited to use these handles. They’re so sparkly.
Getting the brush height where you want it can take a little time, but otherwise I’m sure you’ll find setting a knot to be pretty straightforward. As with other collections, it is fun to build a collection of brushes that you enjoy.
Sounds like a fun project, I wish you success with the knot setting. Please show us some pics when you’re done!
Tired as f**k lately and the early shifts I had didn’t help. Of course I myself am to blame for this, since I go to bed way too late. I should look into ways to fix this, as it is quite frustrating.
Picked up a few orders this week, from shaving hardware to cosmetics to household items (new bedsheets are said to help with sleep). However, I can’t shake the feeling that I am impulse buying stuff to fill a void inside me - unlike other ADHDers who have trouble with finances and budgeting, this fortunately doesn’t impact me as much. But it’s safe to say that I spend too much money on useless stuff just to feel better, which never lasts long. I’m glad about the shaving related stuff though, it seems like wetshaving is the only hobby I can consistently keep up with even in stressful times.
I’m thinking about a few changes to make for 2025. New Year’s resolutions were never that successful for me, but slow & steady improvements should do the trick. We’ll see…
Lack of sleep over a long period of time can really mess with you. It compounds any stress that you already have somehow. I hope you find a solution. For me, it was as simple as a white noise generator. My wife gave it to me years ago and it seems to condition me for sleep. I even use a white noise app in my phone when I travel.
I can definitely feel that - you’ll have a very short fuse when you lack enough sleep.
Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll look into white noise apps to try it out!
