I used to struggle with this, I was in a friend group that was needlessly abrasive and hostile and it quickly became apparent that speaking up was never going to make anyone happier and even after I left that friend group for it’s obvious toxicity the behavior stuck with me it took a long time to break that.
I’m glad you recognized it the group and it’s effect on you. I noticed some bad habits I picked up from being around people I didn’t like. Being able to take note of it and change is a great skill to have.
The person in the photo kinda looks like that one girl that was in everyone’s DMs (who shall not be named)
OK now you make it personal. She is my girlfriend she was in my DMs and she loves me. We will have 13 children and grow old together. You are just fucking jello about it
I know people that struggle a lot with this, for tiny things that are not targeted to them, anyone knows more about it ? Thanks
Could be a type of emotional dysregulation? Sensitivity to emotional stimuli can lead to disproportionately angry outbursts, breaking down in tears or other inappropriate behaviours. A naive way to try and fix this is just to suppress all response i.e. sit there and stew.
There are better techniques for learning how to appropriately express and regulate emotions though, such as CBT and DBT.
Thanks a lot, a quick search of cbt/dbt techniques leaded me to these pages :
