Melbcat has been seen by the specialist. As an alternative to further hospital stays she’s home now on daily subcutaneous fluids, pain and nausea relief, and antibiotics. The idea is to support her body and keep retesting her values at least every three days while trying to let the acute kidney injury recover. 🤞If she worsens she will have to go back into hospital.

I’ll also try to encourage her to drink broth, offer those pouches of soup style meal toppers, and get some electrolytes from the pet shop.

I would much rather have kept her admitted and on iv fluids but the costs of that could get out of control very quickly. And she will need further care.

At least this way she has more familiar surroundings and her own bed…

the comfort of one’s own home is itself good care

hospitals can be very stressful even if only because it’s different and new

if you can get the care you need at home it’s a good idea

          so many gentle hugs

we are here if you need to chat 😘

I completely understand the cost concerns. And I’m sure she is getting the very best of care from you. ❤️

Juice from a tin of tuna in spring water is very much a fave of the puss puss. We used to do liquid for punky, tuna for my jaffle.

Good idea, she did like tuna juice so I’ll get more mini tins.

I’ve moved a small container of frozen broth into the fridge to thaw and am trying to clean the disaster area of my kitchen to hopefully cook more once I’ve had a bit of sleep.

I have arranged alternate leave, very slightly later. This is acceptable to me. I would have LIKED it to include my birthday, but I’ll take a few days off just afterwards

The worst thing about changing your diet for the better is when you decide to treat yourself like you used to and your guts decide you’ve been poisoned and must remove all the offending foodstuff asap. 😢

Eeeeeek I walked through a spiders web, right across my face! Mad swiping of face and hair ensued, hoping spider wasn’t present.

Either the heating in this building is totally crazy lately or I’m starting to have hot flushes. Yay peri-menopause.

Couch has been chopped up and removed from the house the easiest and, coincidentally, the most satisfying way: chucked through the window! Dining table has been moved to it’s new position and it’s looking great in here! I even put up different curtains (my exMIL bought herself new curtains but couldn’t get them up by herself, so I did that for her and scored the old ones 🙂).

Oooh, so fun!! I’ve been really enjoying playing computer games with a controller. E33 converted me, until then I was a strictly mouse and keyboard person.

Had to visit Camberwell for a meeting today, not a suburb of Melbourne I’ve ever visited. Such a contrast to my west side hood, in the types of people walking around, the much nicer houses and buildings. Their office was very flashy. Felt like the person from the ghetto seeing how the other side lives.

The leafy green burbs in the east are definitely something else compared to the west.

With that in mind, feel free to rob people. They’re scared of us from the other side of the bridge.

I’m gearing up to get rid of the yucca in my garden. Bastard is like 2.5 metres tall.

Gonna take some doing but we’ll get there.

Good luck, I did some reading about that and it’s a tough job. Eye (and even ear) protection advised, apparently their pointy leaves have been known to both blind and deafen people by poking into places they do not belong.

Do you have a stump treatment/removal plan to stop regrowth?

Have my gardening goggles!!! For ears I should be okay. Going to cut the branches off and then trim them at ground level.

For the stumps, I have some poison ready. Hate using it, but not going to pay for a stump grinder.

I think the yuccas are a bit old fashioned now, it’s all synthetic grass and badly laid rock ‘mulch’ with bits of plastic liner showing through. Both options are also riddled with overgrown weeds.

Used to live in camberwell near the junction many moons ago as a 20 something.

It was sort of souless but there was an awesome chicken place at the end of the street that arrested many a hangover.

the west and north never used to be so ghetto and run down, it’s so heartbreaking to see

I think the loss of rates revenue from the now closed manufacturing and defence facilities has left these councils poor

pokies and gambling has not helped communities either

If I were in the council I’d be applying for every grant, state and federal, that I could

and would do my best to drive out pokies

nothing will stop the centuries old prejudices but standards of living can be raised and opportunities nurtured

Heading home from work, my bowels are UNHAPPY

I’d like to give my gratitude to my sympathetic nervous system and the crimson tide for the opportunity to look like a sick fuck at work ✌️💜

I finished all seasons of The Boulet Brothers Dragula that I can access via Shudder (seasons 4-6, and Titans 1 and 2). Gonna rewatch Titans 2, and then investigate how to “obtain” seasons 1-3 and Resurrection lol

I NEED MY HORROR DRAG QUEENS AND KINGS

Edit: no one cares, but Asia Consent’s Terrifier drag act (S6) was so fucking filthy, it’s hands down my fav look EVER

I’m feeling efficient and have booked appts for both myself and Miss Meow to have checkups next week. Next in line is Mr Woof’s checkup and my dentist and the optometrist, then the car needs a service & a visit to the autoelectrician. I’ve ended up with lots of stuff piling up because I’ve been putting off decisions about new services for everything now that I’ve moved. My insurance company has been bugging me about getting a checkup though, which is probably good as it’s given me a push I needed to actually start organising things.

Got the day off so I’m doing something drastic: throwing out my couch! It’s threadbare and disgusting and I’m sick of covering it with throws to try to make it look ok. It’s time to get it out of the lounge room. I also want to move the dining table to the space it currently occupies. ExMrP wants to help… I’d kind of like to do it myself but fine I guess. I threw out the last lounge suite we had on my own and this is smaller. I’ll see how I go!
