My main problem with it is how confidently incorrect it constantly is, and the fact that the media ignores this completely and pushes this “AI is smart” shit to the point where the average person doesn’t understand that LLMs are just glorified autocomplete.
First you have to realize how fucking stupid half the population is. In the context of the general public unfortunately AI looks like fucking Einstein. Also if you just look at free models than sure its very confidently incorrect alot, however the paid tier models are generally pretty damn good. Of course they aren’t going to be creating anything new or groundbreaking due to the nature of being an improvement of autocomplete with context, but they are becoming pretty exceptional at translating, summarizing, and transcribing. The reality is most people can’t even do that at a basic level so compared to the average joe ai is extremely smart today. Even if that understanding is depressing as shit its not incorrect.

If AI would make people stupider even without capitalism, imperialism, whatever, then no those are not the only reasons AI is terrible. Making people stupider is terrible. We have brains for a reason. The things we do with those brains are what gives life value. Depending on a technology to think for us is deeply unwise, and a person doing so will become deeply unwell.
Capitalism makes so many things terrible that you just have to go and fight against one of them, even if it’s only one part. Of course it’s technically Capitalism that made AI so horrible, and altho ideally neural networks are a very cool technology, practically they must be fought against to the hilt.
