Bet you never thought you’d read that combination of words anywhere other than on the back of a Dan Brown book, did you.

(article is paywalled, unfortunately, but there’s enough there to get the gist)

To be fair, there’s always some religious nutter saying one person or another is the antichrist. At this point it struggles to be noteworthy, especially since an increasing number of Americans admit to not being very religious. This isn’t even the first pope somebody has accused of being the antichrist.

The only thing I can appreciate Elon Musk and Peter Thiel for is their tireless work proving that being too rich causes mental illness.

In these lectures, Thiel doesn’t just flirt with the apocalyptic. He goes all in — openly discussing the Antichrist, naming Pope Leo XIV as a potential manifestation of that figure, and, most disturbingly, advising JD Vance to ignore the pope on moral matters altogether.

So Pope Leo XIV is the antichrist, Trump is a good guy and JD Vance is our savior who like couches and widows?

JD Vance is our savior who like […] widows?

It’s a bit like one of the sleazy houses on Game Of Thrones, right?

… Although I kinda get it (you do not, under any circumstances have to hand it to him, though): There are not many women ok with dating fascists.

The fact that everything he’s describing as “the Antichrist” also perfectly describes himself, should be obvious to anyone with a shred of self-awareness. It blows my mind how many of these so-called “tech geniuses” are actually just really stupid people with a lot of money to burn.

I think the bit might be intentional. It’s trying to level up “the AI will bear a god whigh will exterminate all human life”.
