This shape is called a Klein bottle if anyone was curious. There are some neat math videos about topology that discuss it. Water poured into the top can get into the interior through the handle.
I got a nightstand with a power strip built in… Game changer for charging at night, nightmare for not browsing my phone in bed.
I mounted a thin ikea outlet strip (euro plugs) at the back of mine, super convenient. Though I have the charger plugged in permanently anyway and usually use a wireless charger with it so I just slap my phone on there before I go to sleep.
And if you live in the US and your outlet design is awful, you could find it by putting your finger between the prongs and accidentally electrocute yourself.

That’s why it’s only 120V. It’s the little finders buzz to help you locate it.
Funnily enough I’ve only had this happen to me with a plug from like 1970 so there are at least some safety features in plug designs for the US outlet. Still nowhere near other plug designs, but at least you can improve a shit design.
I’ve done it in a building built after 2000. TR outlets probably would have prevented it from happening, but standard outlets haven’t changed.
‘Charger’ wasn’t my first thought when I saw this.
