Unironically, treating trans men like they don’t exist and holding trans women to an unrealistic standard are the strongest examples of treating them as the gender to which they identify.

        Right?

Being a man = you just get to be that and no one really has to define what it is because its rude to suggest that you aren’t a man so its just whatever, no one really cares except other dudes and they mostly only care about themselves.

Being a woman = EVERYONE gets to have input on what that means.

I’m not implying being a man is worse expectation-wise, but it is just not at all accurate to say men aren’t belittled all the time for not “being man enough”.

Exactly. Then there’s the toxic insults about being feminine or perceived to be even in the very slightest. It’s pretty shitty and pervasive.

Oh another man on tv called you not manly enough? Try fielding daily bullshit about your nail color, hair color, eyeliner thickness, how fat or thin you are (fat men aren’t fat lois, only fat women are fat), how much worth you have based on whether some old ugly fucking loser wants to fuck you. I can go on forever. Fuck being a woman.

It’s not a competition and this is not even remotely a good way to talk about this, but yes, men on TV and in every day life often denigrate other men.

People who go “she’s not against trans people, she’s just trying to protect women” sound exactly like those who say “I’m not against gay people, I’m just for traditional marriage”.

They don’t fucking grasp that opposing gay marriage is opposing gay rights and they don’t fucking grasp that opposing trans people being able to use public bathrooms is against transgender people.

Then they go “oh they can use public bathrooms, as long as they use the correct ones” completely ignoring post-op trans people who look like the gender they identify as. Why are they ignoring post-op trans people? Cause clearly, they don’t believe people should transition at all.

Being antitrans is inherently antiwoman, given that transwomen are women.

Ignoring that, antitrans measures require gender proof, which is surveillance, which is antiwomen.

Policing bathrooms for example will only harm, to protect against a baseless claim that “men” are for some reason choosing to be socially ostracized for funzies and to be a pervert.

I don’t think that’s unexpected. This is going to come out of left field a little but please humour me. Recently there has been talk of ‘AI psychosis’ where people lose touch with reality because they overuse AI chatbots and their obsequious behaviour reinforces unhealthy mental states. Well, I think that is likely a more general effect that doesn’t actually require chatbots. I think wealthy people are able to cut themselves off from most people while simultaneously ensuring that the people that are around are yesmen, which I suspect leads to the exact same thing as people are calling ‘AI psychosis’. It would explain why so many wealthy people are so…Off.

Something that was brought up in a video I recently watched.

It’s become easier than ever to offload a growing business. The private equity market has really grown over the last few decades. That means that anyone starting aw business now has the opportunity to sell that business and cash out, at any point from initial founding to a billion dollar company.

Think of the kind of person that would turn down a billion dollars just to maintain control over their company or work of fiction. Enough money to never have to work again and for you and your descendants to live in absolute luxury. Spend the rest of your days doing literally anything you want.

Think of that. And now think of what kind of person would turn down such an offer and say, “actually, I want even more money and power. I’ll keep running the company.”

We’ve made it so easy to cash out that only the real weirdos keep going.

This doesn’t really sound convincing to me. For one the scenario

what kind of person would turn down such an offer

implies that the only rational behavior would ever be to go for big chunks of money. I’m not at all convinced, that that is a much healthier attitude than trying to have the company you built up often with loads of work continue to operate according to your (ethical) standards. And then there is the people buying the company, which will with acquisition be actually in the exact same position to have this company completely for the sole purpose of profit. That draws a worse psychological picture in my book. I also really don’t think that it is so easy to get a business going so that it becomes growing and worth a billion dollars like you make it sound.

Honestly, that is what most rich people do. When you no longer have to struggle to get anything you want and you don’t really even have to work or worry about anything, shit like this is what you are left with.

Please, no one think this is making excuses for her at all, because she’s utter trash, but I wonder if it would require some pretty intense mental disorder to be this focused on other people’s lives, and wanting so badly to make them suffer.

I don’t have evidence either way for JKR, but at least with Republicans who spew the same kind of vitriol it usually seems to be projection. They were treated poorly when they showed any signs of not conforming as a child so they pass it on.

Yeah, and I don’t know what I’m talking about really, but I thought sadism was normally on a smaller scale. This seems like a different thing than your average sadist. “I need thousands of people to be miserable!” Is different than “somehow I get off on seeing a person suffering”

JK Rowling lacks the warmth and the depth to be a cunt.

TERF cunt, however, reflects the reality of both JK Rowling’s behavior and bigotry as well as a TERF’s ability to provide warmth and depth for people unlike themselves.

    I can’t fix her.

Well before her anti-trans and anti-fem rhetorics and meltdowns stays the monolith of her piblishing awkward stories under a man’s pseudonym. Treasured Mama Ro gave up her femininity because, with her overwhelming notoriority over the world, these could’ve sold bad or hurted her main brand. Her fans among kids and teens don’t know, that in UK she forgot her own lessons about courage and being yourself, she masquaraded as man because it benefited her at that point. She was cooked way before she sounded her dumb opinions.

Sometimes I think Rowling is a closeted transgender man. If you read the Harry Potter books without any knowledge of the authour, I bet you would think they were written by a man based on how men and women are portrayed in them. Rowling has said that she thinks she would have been labeled as transgender as a child if being transgender were accepted back then. She writes under a masculine sounding pseudonym. People who are extremely homophobic often turn out to be gay themselves. Rowling definitely shows signs of internalized misogyny. She’s either a self-hating woman or a self-hating transgender man. Either way, it must suck to be so self-hating that you need to harm others

That’s a huge simplification, though. It’s not meant in a literal sense. Nobody wants to actually off this person. It’s like saying “Nobody should be allowed to shoplift” and “Nobody should be allowed to hoard power and control over things we need, so we therefore need to shoplift” are the same opposing statements. The action against each statement, or the action each statement is advocating for are inherently different, though, similarly as the original statement.

No shoplifting looks like a surveillance state and increased police presence. No hoarding resources looks like flipping the power by electing politicians who don’t accept bribes (lobbying) and therefore serve the resource hoarders, and then taxing (with probably a few insistent pushes along the way).

Jks idiotic rhetoric asks similarly increase surveillance and police presence. Not allowing her to exist, means extricating any one person’s ability to have this level of harmful power over any demographic, similarly voting for people who will use the wheels of power to stop her using her money to cause this influence. But it’s just easier to shorten that and say she shouldn’t exist.

That said, I’d add a caveat that, historically it’s taken blood to change the direction of things that be, if that’s their terms, then that’s their terms. If we leave them to be, they extract the blood of trans people, and trans women, of course including cis women. So there is already blood. Their way proposes harming, hugely, already. So if she won’t leave by progressive means, she’ll leave by her own devised means.

We leave her to go about her ways = blood.

We stop her with politics = no blood. We are unable to stop her with politics = blood.

Trying to stop her only equates a 50% chance cloudy with a chance of blood.

So even if we choose blood. It’s still less blood than she is already proposing.

And also, Luke I am your father.
