why do you think it’s “AI slop”?

yes, the oklahoma post is a reliable source.

nothing says “murder the rich” quite like them monetising CSAM

self hosted. I don’t use anything from a corporation that I don’t absolutely have to.
copyright and IP are capitalist nonsense. you can’t own an idea, it’s utterly preposterous. likewise, you can’t “steal” someones “intellectual property” by downloading it or using it to train an LLM. copying is not theft. your line of argument is exactly what corporations like Disney have paid untold millions to politicians for.

It’s absolutely a fair comparison. An LLM can’t use any more than 100% of the system resources. neither can a video game. for an individual, there’s no practical difference between being an avid gamer and someone who uses LLMs if you’re comparing environmental impact.
if you don’t agree, then perhaps you could explain to me how using 100% of my GPU for an LLM is different than using 100% of my GPU for Cyberpunk 2077? both use cases are using the same amount of power, so how is one use worse for the environment than the other? especially since I might use an LLM for a few minutes of work, whereas I’ve had many, many days where I spend 8 hours or more gaming. surely my gaming causes far more damage to the environment than my using LLMs does, but perhaps you’re more educated on the matter than I am and can show me otherwise.

LLMs as a technology are also extremely inefficient and resource intensive; by writing yourself off as “just one person” doing it we’re ignoring the global effect of many “one persons” all consuming resources by using this technology.
the same can be said of gaming. criticizing LLMs for being resource intensive even for individual use would be hypocritical if you’re not also criticising gamers for using their PCs to their full potential while gaming.

You say that, but I am learning first hand that I have a finite capacity for injustice and misery.
that’s why I said “if you want to”. if your bucket is full, then care about what you can. if you have more room in your bucket, then why not use that room for something else?

that’s not stealing, that’s copying. you’re in the wrong comm to be calling piracy stealing.

I mean, I guess it matters to the person the land belongs to. they said in the article that they left tire marks and the exhaust also damaged the site. so there’s the environmental concern.
but more importantly, just because there are more important things to worry about, doesn’t mean you can’t also worry about this. it’s not a mutually exclusive sort of thing, you can care about more than one problem at a time if you want to.

Why is the appropriate time never the time people are dying?

saving as much as we can
an economic depression is going to make your spending power tank. don’t save all of your money, invest it in things that will allow you to support your well-being when things get hard. I don’t mean in stocks or whatever, I mean in things like a garden to grow as much food as possible. water filtration like a Katadyn hand pump water filter. solar panels large enough to charge your small electronics like a phone at least, and big enough to power things like your lights if you can afford it. hand tools for repairs around the house. a bidet so you don’t ever need toilet paper again. whatever you need to route your rain gutters into tanks to store water for drinking or watering plants.
you know, practical things that will help you. if you do save money, keep it hidden away in a fireproof safe inside your walls. money saved won’t do much if it’s in a bank that might decide not to let you withdraw it during a recession. I’m not saying you should go crazy and become a prepper, but taking a few steps to decrease your reliance on a functioning society will make things easier when times get hard.

most isekai light novels in general don’t make isekai light novels look good.

AI-generated isekai novel that won a literary contest Grand Prize and Reader’s Choice award
if an isekai novel won literary awards, let alone an AI-generated isekai, then I’m assuming that it was the only novel in the contest.

it wold be better you go back to being isolated. enjoy what’s left of the world before trump stumbles his dumbass way into a nuclear war.

I fucking hate gen AI art and it has made my life more difficult in many ways… suddenly it infests shit in a way it shouldn’t
seeing as how using genAI even during development is still rare enough that it makes the news, I can’t imagine it’s been as big of a problem for them as they make it seem. this sounds more like a smaller publisher taking a popular public stance for the PR.

Yeah, let’s go ask the cavepeople of 30,000 years ago how they handled dangerous industrial jobs in a communist country.

I think any reading at all would benefit you. might I suggest The Very Hungry Caterpillar? it should be about your level.

our revenue is down close to 80%
oof. that’s not something very many groups come back from. losing that much of their business and team, the project is on life support.
I mean, she was his client when she was raped. Even the oklahoma post uses the same word.
