Oh I remember the day MTV was launched, whole neighborhood was in my living room. We had the biggest TV on the block so it was the place for boxing/sports/etc.

and your right the movies, what happened to low budget movies being shown on Saturday manatee’s??? Now if it doesn’t cost 300 million you can forget seeing a real movie theater.

My dad used to fix TVs while going to school for his BSEE. I know this machine all too well!

I understand. Also my dad was an engineer so I could get him onboard with buying me sets every so often because we would build together. The rest of the time we built anything together it involved a soldering gun.

But considering I bet you appreciated those sets like no other kid on planet Earth at the time :)

Same here, I don’t think I ever got a set outside the Space Series.

Were Lego super expensive in Germany? No shade just curious as an American.

I also come from a big extended family, so they would pool the Lego kits for Bdays/Xmas. I only wanted Lego, it was the only toy I played with.

Off script was the BEST! I would build the kit per the instructions, play with it for a bit, then the deconstruction would begin. First what can I build w/ just the kit, then the tub of bricks was put into play to build a monstrosity!

Having no screens helped a bunch! Every stick was a sword or a gun, building forts, digging holes (one of my favorite past times as a kid), playing army, BMX bikes. I am so glad I grew up in the 80’s
