So they want to give an unknown entity infinite access to scan through every image on a CHILDS phone on the off chance that said child might have something the state deems inappropriate?

I’m no tech whiz, but isnt this going to end up with a lot of open gaps for antagonists to get hold of every private thing that happens on said phones?

Are these scanned images going to be stored in datacenters and processed off-device or is the program going to use pattern recognition from some ML system to judge the personal infornation of someone who’s underage?

What happens when they reach adulthood? Does the program suddenly go “Right, you’re an adult now, no more big brother spying on you.”

How in any way shape or form does this do anything to protect children?

It doesn’t. That was never the intention, it was purely pretext.

And the implied “If you fight against this you must want to abuse kids/want to make it easier for kids to get abused”

Sweet jesus. The phrase “This does not look good on paper” doesn’t even come close to cutting it.

Every day you see something new that really makes you want to drop tungsten rods from orbit onto these shitheels.

That’ll definitely be true in the next decade if they (replace ‘they’ with the name of legitimately any country) keep killing journalists and brutalising any civilians brave enough to record their jackbooted fingermen.

That or they’ll just make it so you can’t view anything the powers that be have decided is ‘problematic’ without providing a full 3D facial scan, your full name and address, monitoring your expressions to see what you unconsciously think about it… waitaminute that’s what they’re already doing!

It turns out those old geezers who believed the internet would democratise information wasn’t so crazy after all… the internet was sure starting to look like it could actually do it. And now the libs are doing everything in their power to put a stop to it - all because the internet torpedoed the liberal consensus on Israel they have spent untold amounts of treasure on keeping afloat over the decades.

The article itself even references children being groomed into taking pictures, but absolutely fucking nothing about going after the groomers themselves.

Surely it would be easier and prevent more harm to, I don’t know, castrate and lobotomise every child abuser.

No. I want for there to be a legal system that will fairly punish people that exploit and or abuse the most vulnerable members of society.

Saying that, I am aware that there have been multiple countries in the past 100 years that are confirmed to have been chemically or surgically sterilising members of the population they deem ‘undesirable’

It’s not a matter of wanting to give the state that power, because they already have it. In my mind it’s a matter of making sure that nobody is above the punishment, and every single person on the planet knows what happens to those that break the cardinal rule of “Don’t be a nonce”
