Fuel prices will affect everything in the economy sooner or later.
Nobody is focusing on the grocery price collusion that keeps it high.
If groceries can universally raise prices, what the fuck are you going to do about it? Not buy food?
My expectation of prices zooming sky high is why I filled the freezer with my usual Ninja grill+air-fryer fare: corndogs (4 cases of 28 dogs), 12 packages of Ballpark hotdogs ($8.50ish at CostCo right now), 3 packages of breakfast sandwiches, 2 bags of sausage patties, burger patties, and some breaded chicken.
It is expensive to stockpile now…but things will hurt even more, later. I hope my preparations make the ride of the Greater Depression slightly less shitty.
Still waiting for it here in the UK. Aldi prices of things I buy hasn’t really changed.
What products are most and least impacted?
The prices only rose 3%, not something you will notice. And it will be different by region. Looks like in US mostly imported products are getting more expensive. We’ll see real food price hikes after the next harvest when increased fertilizer prices will have an impact. It will hit vegetables and grains the hardest. Meat prices will go up because feed will be more expensive.
I go to Aldi in the US. Meanwhile, my neighbors go a mile out of their way to shop at the most expensive grocery in the region.
It feels like watching someone eat lobster and caviar, then complaining about how they are struggling to afford food.
Thank you Donlad
