The majority of U.S. military positions in the Middle East have been damaged by Iranian strikes, according to a CNN investigation released Friday.
At least 16 American installations across eight countries have been struck as part of Iran’s retaliatory strikes against the U.S. and Israeli military onslaught.
“I’ve never seen anything like this before.… These are rapid, targeted strikes, with [advanced] technology,” the source said.
The main targets appeared to be multimillion-dollar aircraft. At the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, a Boeing E-3 Sentry aircraft, which provides surveillance, command, control, and communications to the U.S. military, was destroyed. That aircraft is worth nearly half a billion dollars, and is currently out of production.
Beginning to think war with Iran might have been a bad idea.
On moral grounds, obviously, like all imperialist projects. Financially? It made a lot of money for the right people.
This will mean nothing to Magats unless they have someone directly involved. Gas prices however will get their attention.
no it won’t.
they’ll just slap another “Biden did this” sticker on it and keep pushing.
What is the lost asset valuation?
Well… we lost 2 THAAD radar arrays.
The system’s approximate life cycle will cost around $14.9 billion (the amount was based on 1992 dollars). Currently, The THAAD system has an estimated cost of $23 billion, and moving forward, it will cost more.
So this from 2023… theres… been some inflation since then…
We had to strip down the one of these we had in South Korea, for parts, basically.
So… I’m gonna ballpark it and say that the two radar arrays total to ~$15 billion.
Just those two things.
So there’s the approximate floor.
We’ve lost 4 F15-Es, at least 4 KC 135 refueling tanker aircraft… some number of A10s… an F35 got hit and was combat neutralized but did manage to limp back to base in one piece… will be very much not cheap to fix… … the E-3 sentry (with possibly more of those lost or seriously damaged)… 2 little birds from the rescue of the downed pilot… at least 12 mq-9 reaper drones…
I mean add all that on, that’s gotta be around $20 billion.
Lost asset? The asset is still in the white house. The war hawks that sell this stuff just got a payday to make replacements.
To borrow a question from NAFO, “What air defense doing?”
Air defense is good against planes and other big targets. But less effective against small suicide drones that can be mass produced for a fraction of the cost of a single anti-air missile.
Also, the US administration is probably the most incompetent ever, they understimated the retailatory capabilities of Iran by several orders of magnitude so they were caught unprepared.
“Underestimated” implies a level of planning or willingness to face reality that i just don’t think was present.
I don’t see much evidence they even considered consequences.
“vibe”-invading, for sure.
Keep it up Iran!
