So while there’s a problem and a crime and victims… how do we best handle it? A full shutdown, ban, or do-over is not realistic. The crime is happening right here, right now. Our ancestors put slavery, child labor, robber barons, and segregation to an end, and yet we are somehow powerless to stop corporations from being beholden to the very copyright laws that they helped create?

Second, laws and regulation doing prevent people from doing bad things, they only disincentivize them. A life sentence for murder sadly doesn’t prevent murders from happening. But we agree that it’s important to dissuade would-be murderers.
I just don’t like the defeatist attitude around this stuff. We can fight this exploitation of workers and creatives, and we should. This is not a legitimate way to do business.
