As part of its secret “autopsy” report on how former Vice President Kamala Harris lost the 2024 presidential election to President Donald Trump, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) now seems to concede that the Biden administration’s support for Israel amid its continued genocide against Palestinians in Gaza played a large role in her losing votes, sources with knowledge of the report’s…

While I can most certainly sympathize with not wanting to perpetuate genocide of any sort, I feel honestly that way too many folks in the last election let perfect be the enemy of ‘good enough’. They wanted a perfect candidate, and I don’t blame them, but they let that get in the way of Harris being good enough to defeat Trump.
If we ever hope to move the Overton window back to the left, we have to be alright with candidates that aren’t perfect. Let’s move back left slowly, in a measured fashion, not piss off all the fascists before we have a chance to win them over to our side. That’ll just result in another Trump.
See, I was with you up until this.
The whole reason we got Trump was because the center-right Democratic party was trying to court the fascists and abandoning the left. We’re not going to “win over the fascists”, that’s not a thing.
Naw fuck that. Let’s move left at lightning speed, and piss off the fascists with no effort at all put into placating them. The time for baby steps is long passed - that shit is what got us Trump in the first place.
And just in case it needs to be said, defeating Trump isn’t the do-all-end-all here. The problem isn’t so much him personally as it is that a majority of our voters see the evil shit he’s doing and get a hardon from it. Defeating him is a first step, but we’ve got a loooong road of denazification afterward - none of it should be handled with kid gloves.
That’s bullshit. She’s way too moderate/right for my taste… I still held my nose and voted for her but I’m not going to fault anyone who didn’t vote for her.
This article is about a single issue but there were plenty of other issues with our “options” for the last election. Biden sitting on the nomination until after we could have had to primary to find the best candidate, and that’s not just on him, it’s on his whole inner circle who were all giving bullshit interviews about “he’s as sharp as I’ve ever seen him”… That’s the 2 out of the last 3 democratic primaries falling into the “sketchy af” category.
If anyone deserves the blame for this it’s the Democratic party/leadership being co-opted by people largely indistinguishable from Republicans, acting like they get to preordain who gets the nomination and choosing poorly. The party is rotting from within while fossils who are more scared of the party moving to the left than they are of Trump.
