Doubtless they’ll get by from stealing confiscating people’s stuff under the auspices of ‘national security’. After all, it’s one of the skills they trained for!

Eh they didn’t last time. Instead the lines went Hella fast as they proceeded to not give a shit. As someone flying at the time, it was pretty awesome actually.

Want to save billions of the US budget?

    Remove the TSA, completely

    Get rid of Homeland security

Voila, nothing really changed security wise and you’re saving billions

Make sure to put the coast guard under the DoD first, okay? Y’all need coast guard and lighthouses and search and rescue and harbour tugs and stuff, and lots of that is under DHS.

I knew it was transferred under the DHS by Bush, but I didn’t realize it was under the Department of Transportation before that. Interesting.

This is why I’m not too worried about Hitler wannabe. I know the Nazi’s were also a bunch of infighting idiotd, but can you imagine Hitler not paying the browshirts and making them work for free and it all working out?

These idiots will eat eachother before ethe year is over

“Working” is a stretch. They’re the Wal-Mart door greeters of air travel. If a TSA agent stands next to a janitor, they’ll briefly be useful-adjacent and that’s the closest they can get to providing a valuable service without violating the terms of their employment.

Shut down the TSA. Skip the extra steps and go straight to UBI.

Make-work. Republicans coined the term “make-work” for jobs created by government that have no apparent benefit or return on investment for society. ICE is another great example. There are three reasons Republicans create make-work programs. The first is of course to create a slush fund for contractors and former politicians and officials for the purpose of embezzlement and fraud. Guys like Michael Chertoff, for example. The second is to deprive the legitimate factions of government that are actually interested in maintaining vital programs or repairing the infrastructure in this country from the funds needed to do so. The third is to propagate the idea that the government can’t do anything for common people and when they do they fuck it up.

Last time I went through airport security the TSA took my cane from me and made me stand clutching the arm of a stranger while they xrayed me (or whatever that scan is). It was humiliating, and I’m lucky my knee didn’t give out during that ordeal.

On my first leg of the trip they gave me a wooden cane that was entirely too tall, but that was definitely better than not having one at all

Omg they have loaner canes? That’s somehow less of a risk than your regular cane?

The loaner canes are wooden and known safe since TSA sourced them. Basic operational security

They scan the passenger’s cane and then return it

I hope it lasts a long time and they all quit and nobody wants to work there anymore and we have to rethink having so much airport security. Not like they do anything useful anyway.

I know I know, wishful thinking.

And it was relatively pleasant. Walk through a metal detector, have your carry on x-rayed and you’re good to go. Whole thing would only take a couple minutes once you made it to the front of the line and most of that was just waiting for the tray to go through the little x-ray conveyor belt. Even the people running the machines were relatively pleasant, not the surly assholes looking for an excuse to power trip on somebody that are all running things now.

The Trump regime hates federal workers. They also want them all to quit, but so they can privatize airport security, not rethink or reduce it.

This is one of the things that should have stayed privatized. I disagree with pretty much any other privatizing of gov’t though. Just let the airlines hire their own security… It’s their damn planes in the first place, not the governments!

I think we’re using “privatized” to mean different things. You’re saying airlines should pay for their own security. That’s a reasonable position.

This administration would never let that happen. Privatization to them is about robbing the public trust. They would keep it a taxpayer funded program, but they’d triple the budget, halve the staff, and decimate the effectiveness. They don’t care how dysfunctional or corrupt it is; it’s about stealing from the public in every way they can.
