Describe how he has any impact on the liberal party of the past few decades…. Can you only make an excuse based on a recent personality or can you speak to the past few decades?
These libs really think Dems give af about them. There are literal senators and reps voting to give ICE more funding. I don’t know when the delusion will end
I just don’t see the USA getting any progress at all unless the DNC sweep the next election.
Even if we think they, the DNC, are inadequate to represent everyone in this nation, third parties and independents are not a viable option unless we reform elections first (which can and should be done simultaneously). The most independent senators this nation had in a hundred years was like 2 years ago, 4 IND, and it just snapped right back to a GOP majority afterwards.
They’re the same party, one is just more rainbow coloured than the other. The DNC are fascist collaborators. They aren’t better in any meaningful way and their “reign” will just end up leading to republican leadership 4 or 8 years later
Because this comm is ultimately and unfortunately full of liberals. Comes at the cost of this being an anti-tankie comm which cascades into anti-socialism
This community isn’t full of liberals, it’s a diverse community filled with all sorts of people with different views. Some are liberals, some are US “liberals”, some are anarchists, communists, environmentalists and so on. Neither is this community anti-socialist, if anything, it’s pro-socialist.
but sure, blanket an entire community because five people disagree with you.
There’s heavy pro-DNC sentiment in here. If that doesn’t scream liberal to you, then i don’t know what will. Secondly, I’m not even an American, i made a comment specifically referencing the “DNC is better than GOP argument” hence the apparent “defaultism”.
Finally, yes it’s a diverse comm, i never disputed that fact, but your community is undeniably dominated by liberals who are by definition pro-capitalist and ipso facto anti-communist
If you’re not a yank, why are you using their definition of liberal? In the US, liberals don’t have any socialist policy, while liberals in the rest of the world all have social liberalism. Heavy pro-DNC sentiment? What? the 13 people who downvoted you? Most of whom aren’t even regulars in this community.
I’ve also never seen anyone in this community actually defend capitalism. Capital, in its current state, is falling apart and proving itself to be unsustainable. Find me anyone who’s defending capitalism, and I’ll challenge them on that.
I was using the US definition of liberalism because we were discussing a US topic. My fault for not specifying. As for the heavy pro-DNC sentiment, i see it often. There are more Americans than any other nationality combined on Lemmy, and by extension, this community. Therefore, i see it more than I’d expect when this community seemed to have been supposed to cater more to leftists who were critical of the very radical wing.
Now I’m by no means saying this is the default here, most users here are in fact very critical of capitalism, the problem, however, is that many here think they can do genuine socialist organizing within capitalist parties—who by the way have stopped at nothing to shirk their more radical counterparts. Just look at Zohran Mamdani for example, his policies are no more radical than Polanski’s Green party, but democrats were hesitant to endorse him. Nevertheless, there still exists a great many who think organising can be done through the DNC. I still use the term liberal to refer to these individuals: socialist in will, liberal in praxis.
The DNC aren’t better than the GOP
The DNC are not good. They are better than the GOP tho. I hate both of them. All of these things can be true.
Better in what salient ways?
Healthcare
Taxing the Rich
Not raping any children
LGBT+ Cabinet positions
The environment
Less Measles
Not raping any children
Etc
“Taxing the Rich”
Gavin Newsom would like to have a word.
Gavin Newsom is standing in the way of a DNC tax bill. Who did you think wrote it? Fairies?

Get off your echo chambers. Read some news
That doesn’t dispute anything I just said lmfao
Describe how he has any impact on the liberal party of the past few decades…. Can you only make an excuse based on a recent personality or can you speak to the past few decades?
But doesn’t and has not had an impact on the past few decades….
Try again with your narrow ass ignorance…
Literally the same argument could be made for Republicans you dumb shitlib
FTFY

ICE was given tens of billions of funding via republican reconciliation via the BBB, without a single DNC vote.
Now DHS has no funding currently because the DNC negotiated a government funding bill without it.

Check again. Read the pinned comment as well. Your brain has been fried by decades of DNC propaganda

Looks like we’re in different timelines, pal
They literally are, just not by a significant enough margin that would matter.

Why are you getting down voted? You are spot on with that comment 👍!

lmao, the US-defaultism

https://lemmy.world/comment/21430350. Here’s a discussion i had with someone a while ago on this comm where they defended capitalism.
