Aston Martin informed the media during the afternoon that they had detected “an anomaly in the data,” which is why they were unable to complete as much lap time as planned on Wednesday.

This is what Aston Martin said:

“Our power unit testing plan with Lance this morning went according to plan. However, this afternoon we detected an anomaly in the data. We are now carrying out preventative checks on the power unit to understand the exact cause before we can resume testing.”

This was bound to happen given how late they started and how little they ran in Barcelona. I was actually surprised they did not start earlier given that Aston is the only customer for Honda this year.

That seems to be AM’s fault, they basically are 4 months behind all other teams in the car development process (AM put their first car concept into the wind tunnel in April 2025, all other teams already in January 2025)
