It’s been a running joke since pretty much my 1st post in this comm, that somebody will find a way to explain how my comic post is political. Despite me making it pretty obvious in the sidebar that I’m referring to a very specific flavor of politics.

I’ve been rolling with them, since I find them more eye-rolling amusing than annoying. However it seems that others might be getting annoyed with them, which I can understand.

IF YOU ARE A PART OF THIS COMMUNITY, chime in with your opinion here. Should we continue to allow free for all comments, or subject them to the same restrictions on (particular) politics as the posts?

If you are already against the point of this community for whatever reason, please refrain from joining in the discussion.

I think comments should have a milder version of the rules of posts.

If you let politics run wild in the comments, the target audience (people who want a break from politics) will start avoiding them, and that’s really bad. And yet people sometimes can’t help but point out some political aspect of the comic; specially if leans towards this, like that comic about the parents betting on the child’s gender.

I also think the sidebar needs something addressing more explicitly that “ackshyually everything is politics lol lmao” discourse, so you can get a bit rougher with posters bringing it up. I think it’s important to do so; while it’s technically true (yup, there’s politics everywhere, even in knitting), the main reason people would bring it up in a comm like this would be to convey “I feel entitled to shit your community with content that contradicts its goals and reason to be”. It’s a yellow flag for a potential troublemaker, you know?
