I don’t know if it’s a myth so much as a good brainwashing. Many leftist policies when polled alone garner significant majority support. Unfortunately, a large segment of our society has fallen into hatred through identity politics, and their entire worldview is now aligned with the people (see right-wing billionaires) who fund and push that divisive narrative to achieve their own goals of power and wealth consolidation.
There are many Trump supporters who would gladly support a national health service if Republicans wanted one, but they could never get on board with Democrats to make that happen, because they exist in a media ecosystem that has for years portrayed Democrats literally as an enemy to be destroyed.
I mean, I’m pretty sure that the meme is saying that leftists need to shatter the illusion that liberalism is leftism to push forward a new paradigm in American politics, not saying that we already have a majority and just need to flex our muscle.
To clarify.
I am not saying that good people aren’t voting.
I am saying that there’s a myth out there that there’s a vast number of Left voters who are staying home because they don’t like the Dems or the GOP.
