they are feeling betrayed after federal agents recently detained the woman in California while she interviewed for permanent US residency

True but they had deported her decades ago she re-entered the country illegally by flying to Mexico and driving back across the border. As to criminality, it’s a civil offence but re-entering illegally after deportation makes it criminal, so she is what her son voted for :)

She has to take some blame for her own stupidity surely ? got away with it for decades I guess.

There was another thread where they linked the fact that more than half of Americans read below an 8th grade level.

I was sharing this article with some Trump-voting high school “friends” (to see if they regret their votes yet or are swept up in the pan-psychic fascist religion), and I had to clip only the part including the woman “going to high school” (their own lived experience) and then being deported. I had to seriously think about how to dumb down “woman applies for citizenship and gets deported”.

Some people truly don’t experience life past their own nose, and so using small words and simple concepts is the only way.

But yeah the leopard ate their face

8th grade reading level is about the number of words and grammar used, not being stuck with only the knowledge known in 8th grade.

Vocabulary matters, too. People will search the wildest things for hours and cba to look up unfamiliar words.

Too bad. Should’ve done your research but then again, you didn’t care to begin with. You’ve sentenced all of us to this hell and you’re going to go through with it too until you learn, if you ever learn.
