  • As a reminder for those unfamiliar with the degree of self-driving afforded by Waymo’s cars, the IIHS points out that they are certified as Level 4, which according to the automation scale created by SAE International, means the computer can do all the driving with no human supervision under certain conditions.

I’m sure they only compared to human drivers in the same conditions, right?

68% is not that great of an improvement in this context. They should be multiple times better with all the tech built in and the constant oversight.

  • Ditching the cracker and the barrel was a good idea, the old logo was way too busy and detailed. I’m sure wanting to be able to have it be lower resolution and printed for cheaper was the reason for the change. But by retaining a few of the distinguishing features of the original it would have been a great change.

So here is the change: comparison of original logo, left has a person and a barrel next to a stylized name Cracker Barrel in a sweeping bean shaped background, on the right just the text with on a yellow background in what I assume is the shape of a barrel with no detail.

Either of these that I made it paint just now would have been far superior by retaining just the smallest additional detail! left original logo altered to just remove the person and barrel, right is new logo but with the bands and lines where the wood of the barrel meets to make the background shape more obvious

The fact that they did a shit job is the main reason for the push back, not just change by itself. They really did a shit job. Also, I really like my version of the new logo with the barrel details, that is all it would have taken!

  • I am not taking you seriously because initially I thought you were a troll. You are clearly putting in enough effort that you are actually a vegan crusader trying to gain sympathy from a random group by completely misconstruing the tenets to mean what you want them to mean.

I will continue to not take you seriously, because you have a comical online based understanding of veganism that is indistinguishable from trolling.

Vegan is a great thing to strive for, sure. But it approaches some things as harm reduction and others as absolutes, and that is where it falls apart as a rigid ideology because it isn’t actually internally consistent overall even if the goals are noble in intent.

  • The Hobbit (trilogy)

I love the LotR trilogy, just so well done. I knew De Toro started the Hobbit and I was hyped! Then he departed and it was a bit concerning, but Jackson was coming to the rescue so it couldn’t be that bad, right?

It did not need to be a trilogy. Adding more characters who are women was a good idea, but doing it for a romance subplot was stupid. Legolas didn’t need to be included at all, there were enough characters already and another dude didn’t help out.

Then there was the inconsistent tone, the stupid barrel ride crap and goblin caves super mario scene and the whole thing missed the point of the book which was about a bunch of bumbling dwarves, most of which were past their prime, hiring a hobbit to be a spy to raid a dragon horde. Instead we got superhero dwarves doing outrageous stunts and a ton of side characters padding out a trilogy.

    Ugh.

  • DnD 3rd, was taking a break from being DM. Made a human rogue who was the half brother of another player’s half orc rogue. We had a plan to be kinda brutish thugs who used flanking for fun and profit, even had a good chit chat going as the very first session started.

First fight of the campaign about 30 minutes in, we come across an ogre. Getting our early initiatives my character and his half brother flank and put a little damage in, everyone else goes, then the ogre goes after me for doing the most damage.

Critical hit with almost max damage, doing double HP and killing my character outright on the first attack. I laughed and excused myself for a few,l saying to carry on. When I got back they asked if I wanted to undo it and the answer was no, I’d have another character ready to join part way through. They had a funeral and the half orc now had a vendetta against the bandits that had led us to the ogre!

My next character was a cheric of WeeJas who believed every action was fated using circular logic. A fantastic one two combo!
