He does something illegal on a practically daily basis and everyone just kisses his ass. Now I guess he can just continue on and conquer the whole world and kidnap world leaders. Why doesn’t anyone stand up to this asshole?

Trump is the result of decades of effort by right wing, authoritarian, racists, and fascist groups all working together to advance their goals. They play the long game and do not give up. They want minority rule, they do not want democracy.

Alot of this started back in the 50’s with de-segregation. Check out a documentary called Bad Faith. It lays out how an organization named Council For National Policy (parent org of the Heritage Foundation, by the way) realized they could control alot of voters by controlling pastors and churches. Before Trump was elected, he agreed to play ball, and they put their support behind him. This is why so many religious people follow trump, its because their pastor supports trump.

This is just one example, but there are alot of organizations like this dedicated to evil causes.

Now imagine all these groups working together, across international boarders. If they win, they get to impose their crazy ideals and robbing the American tax payer at the same time.

It’s the Dominionism Cult I grew up in in the 90s, I thought it started in the 70s, but nope, started with desegregation like you say. Chris Hedge’s 2006 Totalitarianism in America talks about it and he’s rightfully scared, but he didn’t get taken to secret meetings where they taught their members how to brainwash ppl like I was, or he might have been even more alarmed

Care to elaborate? Sounds as fascinating as it is terrifying

Yeah I was 13-14, and they were telling the cult members how to make “friends” with ppl they didn’t give a shit about, how to start talking to them about the cult’s beliefs, how to tell how good of a reception they were getting, how to tell if it had gone on long enough and the person wasn’t receptive so move on, how to “dump them as friends in a friendly way” if they did join so the higher cult members could take over and the lower members could then have time to go recruit more ppl. It was fucking nuts.

My mom was vulnerable to them bc she was so lonely and also liked thinking she had secrets other ppl didn’t know.

I remember being taught how to “witness” as a kid/young teen. Thankfully I was shy and self aware enough to never attempt it.

I don’t think they were as hardcore as that though.

A friend of a friend, while in my early 20s, got roped into Mormonism in a similar way. She started dating a guy who was Mormon and pressured her to convert. She later found out that it was all a fishing strategy, and she was far from the only one he had done it to. Unfortunately, at least at that point, that information was not enough to steer her away from her newfound cult

Side note: Desegregation started the anti abortion movement. The GOP wasn’t getting sufficient votes from opposing desegregation so they trumped up the abortion issue and got churches onboard.

Always stuns me to think that when I was born, abortion was a non-issue for everyone but Catholics, can’t imagine such a world.

If anyone wants to know, highlight and search that first sentence. It’s almost weird how clearly documented it was.

The older I get, the more i realize that religion is just another tool to control people. Religion, politics, taxes, laws are all really the same thing. A means of control for crazy people who want to control others.

Unfortunately, populations need controlled. We didn’t evolve to operate in groups of more than 250 or so.

You’re right, all those things are means of control, hence why we fight about who and how that control is wielded.
