Too late. In the very few occasions throughout my years of being a grey dot on the humanities map during which I will potentially be able to afford to travel, I will still choose to pick a hotel over airbnb hosts that inevitably will continue to try screwing over their guests.
Airbnb’s (or similar services) only value is for group travel - large family trips, vacation with a group of friends, etc. Anywhere that having a communal gathering place is the priority.
Hotels are better for everything else.
