Being part of two major corporate moves I can tell you no company decides in 3 weeks they are moving their head office. It takes months, sometimes years of planning. Canadian Pacific had this on the radar for a long time. “…the move had nothing to do with politics or language…”
UPI announced leaving Quebec in 1982, but the separation referendum occured in 1995. Are you suggesting they moved their head office 13 years BEFORE the referundum proactively? The logic doesn’t work.
This is just bad journalism saying Catalonia experieced something similar to Quebec, without saying what happened in Quebec.
Have companies left Quebec? Absolutely. But it is more for the draconian forced French language requrements in business than because of the referendum.
