    It was a public park.

Now it’s an over-policed and appropriated self-gratification monument to a war criminal that is part of a larger gentrification project for South Side.

Just a heads up, I’d like to tell you that it’s “losing” rather than “loosing.” To loose money is to spread it, whether intentionally or unintentionally. You can loose money in a strip club by throwing an unbound stack of bills, for instance. They will fly in every direction. It’s easy to lose loosed money, as it can settle into undesirable and out-of-the-way places, but they’re not necessarily the same thing. Pardon if autocorrect hit you

Fuck this guy, but the “it’s private money so it’s okay” argument is also being used by Trump for lots of his bullshit.

Which might be fine if it was, but so often it turns out that in fact no-one ponied up and now it’s in the taxpayer…

Also, perfectly happy with cutting snap benefits and making it harder for people to get Medicaid. They want more people to be homeless, and want them to struggle.

Yup. I remember when they kicked my kids off of Medicaid because I wasn’t poor enough. I remember going to the ER for my daughter ear (she was screaming from the pain). You know how they first send those people who do the insurance thing before the doctor. The lady told me I didn’t have insurance. I told her I did, she checked again and it was gone. Took my baby screaming and left the hospital. Thankfully, I found an urgent care that charged me $180. I’ll always be bitter about that night.

Look if you want to do the 1900s millionaire philantropic bullshit, you just make a nice ornate public space and put your name on it. You don’t build a monolithic museum to “your legacy”. That’s the sort of thing a villain with a Walt Disney mustache would do. Even he would have some taste and not build an obilesk that looks like the missingno Pokémon.

Personally I think it looks a bit like a particularly mangled Rapa Nui statue. Missingno is a bit more abstract than this. But also am I bad for thinking individual people shouldn’t get museums unless it’s a childhood home or something? Maybe the occasional inventor or whatever could get a section named after them but politicians in particular inherently don’t deserve museums mostly because it’s unbecoming IMO. Yes even the good ones like FDR.
