Morelia, Michoacán. To promote arts education and support the artisans of Paracho, 10,000 guitars will be distributed in the secondary schools of the state’s 113 municipalities; of these instruments, 500 study models will go to teachers who lead artistic activities. This action is part of the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice and will generate a direct economic impact in the municipality of Paracho, benefiting the families and workers of 15 artisanal workshops dedicated to making this emblematic instrument, reported Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla.

A total of 180,000 students from 613 schools across the state will benefit. More than 400 families will be helped. The program was allocated 10 million pesos, the state governor noted.

Ramírez Bedolla explained that the program was agreed a year ago in coordination with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, with the aim of supporting the economy of the artisans who have kept alive this centuries-old tradition that gives Michoacán its identity.
