I watched the whole event and I’m so disappointed, tiny tweaks and minor improvements and massive amounts of “productivity AI” which ‘we will charge you for at some point’ but we won’t tell you when or how much.
I don’t need productivity AI in my personal life, I want to enjoy life, forget things, remember things and I want others to do the same. I don’t want to think that someone only ‘remembers something’ because their AI reminded them.
What a crock of dehumanising shite!
Yeah, I kinda hate this. I watched the keynote yesterday, and when they tried to say recordings aren’t stored or attributed, I thought, that doesn’t much matter.
The keynote sort of shit the bed twice in the same regard. Once here, and once in the AirPods part, during the bit about live translation, just assuming you will wait for the AirPods to read what (it thinks) the person said back to you in their language and then in your language. And then telling the guy “thank you” in your language and he can’t translate back? Okay guys. As for the waitstaff in the Watch thing, that person is not gonna sit there while you appear to read a text on your watch, they are going to excuse themselves and return later.
Bonus: the Watch has had a microphone for years, but you need to pay $300 for the new one (which is the price for the smaller one aimed at women; the traditional men’s size is like $50 more) to get this feature.
Allez on fait tous semblant que Siri et Alexa n’existent pas depuis 10 ans, comme ça on peut continuer à exploiter encore le narratif anxiogène autour des dangers de “l’IA”… franchement ridicule.
C’est une transformation de nos vies personnelles en vies d’entreprise. Je m’explique.
Le but de l’informatique B2B, c’est d’automatiser. Tous les logiciels B2B cherchent à automatiser quelques choses : la facturation, la prise de rendez-vous, les notes de réunion, la création de modèle 3D à partir d’images, etc. L’intelligence artificielle générique qu’on pousse ces dernières années cherchent à s’appuyer sur des outils existants pour pousser l’automatisation encore plus loin. Si on passe outre l’aspect techno fasciste des entreprises qui poussent ça et que l’on vit dans un système capitaliste, c’est une bonne chose : plus d’automatisation c’est moins de travail, moins d’aliénation.
Mais on voit cette mentalité percée dans nos vies personnelles : plus besoin d’écouter votre enfant, Siri vous fera un récap de ce qu’il a dit. Pas besoin de discuter du programme de la journée : filer votre calendrier à OpenAI et ChatGPT vous génère un podcast résumant tout ça pour qui ça intéresse. Comme si on avait besoin d’automatiser ces tâches parce qu’elles sont aliénantes alors qu’elles sont essentielles : l’humain est un animal social, remplacer toutes ces interactions humain humain par humain machine ce n’est clairement pas une bonne chose.
Bon et ça pose un énorme autre problème pour les entreprises : si Siri écoute un meeting, les données sont stockées sur un cloud perso. Je vois au boulot que beaucoup d’assistants AI qui se connecte à Teams sont interdits. Quid de Siri ?

Et ton médecin, qui porte une Apple Watch ou te montrer tes radio sur un écran LG ? Est-ce que tes données médicales sensibles restent protèges ? Il faut que ces questions prennent de l’ampleur dans le débat public.
