The Whale is probably going to be an artefact of its time very soon. Now that everyone has started on ozempic it was probably the last time they could film that story and have it be relatable/recognisable.
flow is the best movie!
I didn’t enjoy it that much. Found it overly sentimental and saccharine. Although to be fair I got the impression if I were a parent it would resonate with me more.
I mean, I absolutely agree. Was it life changing tho?
Unironically, Street Fighter. That scene where he says, “For you, the day Bison graced your village was one of the most important days of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.”
I think about it a lot in dealing with other people. It was supposed to make him sound like even more of a jerk, but I actually think it’s a good commentary on what it’s like to deal with the public. Imagine being a doctor. Sometimes, you get to deliver good news. Sometimes bad. Sometimes you can do something, and sometimes you just can’t. If the doctor tried to care as much as the patients, they’d be emotionally destroyed in short order. For them, it HAS to just be a Tuesday.
Similar vibe, but I think about this scene/meme a lot as well.
Likewise, Don Draper is being an asshole in the scene. But, in reality most people don’t think about you.
They could say something that offended you. They are going to forget about it. So there is no need to be upset, chances are they forgot about it.
You could say something dumb or embarrassing. People are going to forget almost immediately.
But if I lose weight all the people who called me a retarded fatass my entire childhood win.
But have you avoided getting smarter too? If not, then they’ve already won.
If you keep the weight they’ll be double right. If you lose the weight they’ll only be half right!
I saw the Lord of the Rings as a teenager and now all I wanna do is sit around barefoot, smoke pipe and cook, eat and drink with friends. And everyone has to leave their bullshit at the door.
No wizards!
Training day made me realize I wanted to be a dirty cop
And smoke PCP. Not so keen on getting my shit pushed in, though
Thanks for sharing your story #inspirational
Welcome to tthe NHK made me try to be more social. I’m still pretty anxious but it’s slowly getting y little better.
office space had some great eye opening lessons:
- you can say no to overtime
- some tasks are totally not important, and its insanely important to have a priority order, otherwise you go insane.
I mean, I feel like the real lesson from Office Space is the importance of having an exit strategy.
People work in grey cubicals or Applebee’s because they feel like they don’t have a choice. Everyone in these jobs is unhappy, because if they believed in their ability to find happiness elsewhere they would already be gone.
I set low initial expectations at my job, automated and simplified nearly every task. I work less than 20 hours a week on average. I have time for basically all my hobbies and get to spend tons of time with my kid and wife. It may be a grey cubicle and annoying but it pays well and i can get fulfillment elsewhere. Feel like anybody trying to get fulfilling experiences from work is looking at the picture upside down
That movie was extremely cathartic to watch
The Matrix made me realise my whole reality was a lie and now I’m pro-Patriarchy, pro-Authority and pro-conformity just like the characters.
Exactly! Cypher is the only sensible person in that whole world. /s
He does make sense. What does it matter to you if you don’t realize it is all fake
All he wanted was a nice steak. What’s wrong with that?
Eventually getting flushed into the gutter when the human battery’s best before date passes?
Trump gives the vibes of a piece of shit steak-loving betrayer who wanted to be put back into the battery pod and be king who’s ass is kissed globally
I think people don’t realize you’re making fun of manosphere and alt right creators co opting the terms from the movies like red pill and others.
I think Flight Club is a better idea of the right people walking away with the wrong message.
Fight Club is such a good movie. It seems like an awful lot of people don’t understand it at all. The same with American Psycho. You definitely nailed it with the right people walking away with the wrong message.
Not a movie, but RATM is my favorite example of this. Or the Punisher.
“Some of those that burn torches are the same that burn crosses!” Yeah!! Woohoo!! What fun music. Go GOP!!
Punisher badges on police equipment…
Note how anon states they weigh the same, but they feel healthier. Being healthy isn’t about looking like a model, being healthy is about literally being healthy. You don’t need to do crazy ass workouts, chug protein mixes, and gain muscle like a TV star on steroids. You just need to get enough cardio in your day (or throughout the week) from chill/fun activities (biking, swimming, dancing) and have a balanced diet to do your body right. Don’t fucking starve yourself please, you look fine the way your are ♥️
I see what you were going for. ♥️
Hugs!
Being grossly overweight is deletorious to your health. Cardio or exercise will not change this, because weight loss is mostly driven by diet.
Its both. Calorie in. Calorie out. Any calories not used will be stored for later. Keep consuming more than used, than more and more gets stored. The problem with modern diets is food is very enegry dense and a lot of people dont live active lives. Our bodies have not adapted to such lifestyles. Its adapted to survive until the next hunt not the next doordash delivery.
Our bodies are not bomb calorimeters. Calorie intake and expenditure are not independent variables. The human body is more than a simple linear equation. Please, stop propagating these myths.
I mean, sure. Not every single calorie you consumed gets absorbed and expelled. Fiber has tons of calories, but our bodies cant digest it so its simply expelled. Its very naunce argument. Thats why i selectively said “enegry dense food” sugars and fats are easily broken down and absorbed. I was not intending you to interpret it as meaning if you eat a gram of uranium, that your body would suddenly gain 18 million calories.
Even though you misread the comment as a fat fuck, I have to reply to you and say, fuck spreading whatever idea you are spreading.
Your comment reads like a delusional HAES cult members.
Being obese is objectively worse for your quality of life and your longevity, just because someone wants to better themselves doesn’t mean they do it to look like a model.
Your comment is objectively wrong, putting on muscle is by far the best way to increase your health and longevity, not doing cardio.
Didn’t they lose a hundred pounds?
FUCK can’t read 😭🔫
It’s not too late, there are education programmes for adults. You can do it. 👍
That would be really encouraging if OP could read.
If Anon is anything like me, my advice for next steps would be to start learning about metabolic health.

I wonder what this was
me too
Oh god are we getting bots on lemmy now
🤨
Office space started me thinking about early retirement plans.
Yep that movie is depressing, especially that traffic scene, I go through that every day. Even the changing lanes part, too relatable.
I used to as well. Glad I can commute by train now.
I saw Bladerunner as a teenager and it affected me so much I’m now a grown-ass man living in a cyberpunk dystopia. Follow your dreams.
See homeless man dying on the streets below the neon skyscraper
“Omg, literally me”
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry
Replicant detected
Monologue internal narration to the audience.
Sometimes I laugh because it keeps me from crying.
Sidenote: I am often told that I laugh too much.
I’ve got a hint for you, look at their username. It’s sick as fuck.
I wish the d was capitalized but still awesome.
Beandog is a single word.
