I am against animal agriculture for the same reason I am against sexism, racism, ableism, classism and homophobia.

The circumstances of a creatures birth does not dictate what it is “meant for”, every one deserves to live happy, healthily and with dignity, but some simply want to live.

  • (as is most biologists) that we are omnivores.

No vegans dispute this. In fact that is a large reason we point that meat is not a necessity to a healthy diet like many claim.

But fundamentally I’m not here to talk about veganism. You are entitled to your own beliefs, I only wanted to provide a complete answer to the “hypocritical vegans” comment that appears in every thread paints feeling pain. While I personally think deciding that things are most “humane” when they are “efficient” for you regardless of the effect it has on others is selfish and motivated reasoning, thus unethical. But this thread nor community is a place to discuss ethics, I clearly illuminated why equating plant rights and animal rights is silly, so frankly I would just like to end the discussion there. Thanks.

  • If you think pigs, chickens and cows have the same level of awareness and perception as broccoli, tomatoes or potatoes than you’re the potato.

Humans have to eat and with the exception of a few minerals like salt, everything edible to humans is alive on some level. Vegansisn is making an ethical choice about reducing what causes the most pain fear and suffering in another. If I were to develop cancer, a tape worm or a virus should I also allow those living things to thrive as well or does “Uh, now what?” also apply to antibiotics?

  • Okay, so I like bummer movies.

The Worst Person in the World

Might be my new favorite. Tells the story of a womans life over the course of several years. I adore this format where you can see realistic problems unfold, how relationships were doomed from the start and how others can be repaired with time. I’m sure there are people who would say it’s boring and nothing major happens. But, isn’t that life? We all create our own drama.

I don’t think she is the worst person in the world. But I understand what she might think that of herself.

    Club Zero

A slow burn horror about toxic flawed faith in extreme diet culture. Did you know that you don’t ACTUALLY need to eat? Companies just TELL you that to sell you more food. It takes legitimate criticism of consumerism well past what I thought was extreme. Fantastic yet tragically plausible.

    August: Osage County

Lots of big names doing A+ performances, a brutal story of a strained dysfunctional family finally breaking when their father disappears. When your parents do nothing but sow discord and cruelty they’ll only reap chaos and heartbreak. The abject cruelty is hard to stomach at points, but it fosters the payoff as the family learns to stand up for themselves.

  • You’d be suprised. My partner is very tuned in to politics and watches Hasan near daily, reads news, talks with me and her friends but casually mentioned she would be voting for Stein instead of Harris. I very quickly pulled up the Putin dinner party pic and a handful of articles explaining the various connections. It all totally flabbergasted her and she decided on Harris despite her, very legitimate, reservations over genocide. Realistically we’re in a very blue state that will safely go Harris so it wouldn’t matter, but I’m certain other people will still fall into the same trap.
