Is it as easy as double-clinking an icon? Or do I have to create some program to install and troubleshoot incompatible dependencies? Seriously…Linux needs to think in terms of someone who know nothing about PC’s and only uses a iphone…not even an android! …if you can believe that…just ask any schmoo off the street.
With flat pak it literally is clicking an icon and pressing install. Same as rpms.

Windows isn’t easy. If they don’t use windows store, most apps run their own auto update thing in the background.
And macOS is a terrible example of usability. It’s actually used as an example of bad /inconsistent design in uni . Even something as basic as remote support using anydesk is a nightmare on MacOS these days
I use Debian (before that slackware)…so don’t use rpm(red hat, etc.). I can tell you dependencies and troubleshooting that crap IS VERY MUCH A REAL thing! Flat packs are nice if they exist, if not…hopefully ‘sudo apt-get install’ picks it all up. Windows is actually still easier to troubleshoot, because it got a more robust central support…enterprise-wise…good luck with Linux…search the web forever! I can’t speak to MacOS, since Jobs left. I imagine its a shit show nowadays. However their iphone is unbeaten…stuff just works! …in weird ways.
Yes, that’s very true…Debian is definitely not user friendly. However it is the most streamlined Linux out there next to slackware…now that’s a cluster-fucking linux nerd orgy! I used Redhat back in the day…but it left me feeling the distro was getting too commercialized. I may revisit it. To follow your analogy… Debian is more like buying a sports car and complaining why it doesn’t come in automatic? :-)
Not really in fedora. Everything is flatpak now or rpm .
Steam is basically automatic too, gog is inbound and epic store is inbound.
The biggest issue with windows also is that most updates aren’t properly centralized
