Israeli settlers assaulted worshippers at a mosque in the southern occupied West Bank on Saturday, with the Zionist military subsequently removing seven individuals from the premises and placing them under arrest, Palestinian sources reported.

Wafa’s correspondent in Hebron detailed that the settlers struck citizens and fired live ammunition into the air before the army intervened. Soldiers then expelled seven congregants from the mosque, using live rounds, stun grenades, and toxic spray during the operation before taking them into custody.

Among those detained are five elderly men and the mosque’s imam, Mutaz Saadi Tmaizi, according to Wafa.

During the assault, the settlers also pitched a tent in the Al Yalatia neighborhood of Idna, where the mosque is located, and moved a flock of sheep into the area.

Data from the Commission of Resistance against the Wall and Settlements shows that Israeli settlers carried out at least 798 attacks across the West Bank during July, alongside 1,458 military operations conducted by the army.

The Commission asserted that these figures expose a systematic integration between military force and settler terrorism, arguing that the occupation army provides a protective environment and support that enables the expansion of attacks.
