A little holiday update for Proton Experimental from Valve to improve Windows games on Linux, Steam Deck / SteamOS systems. This update was released on December 23rd, with another from earlier in December previously covered on GamingOnLinux with even more improvements. There’s also Proton 10.0-4 with a release candidate for testing.

Article update 15:19 UTC - Valve originally said “CoD: Black Ops Cold War” was now playable, but later removed it.

In fact, it was a (bad) port of the iOS version (which itself was a stripped-down port of the DS version).
If that seems incomprehensible to you, it’s because it is.
I’m a die-hard Chrono Trigger/Cross fan and I was so disgusted by what they were offering on launch that I demanded a refund and haven’t been back since.

Yes, they have addressed many of the concerns, but only because we made them. “It’s actually almost decent now” is an awful defense for terrible treatment.
The DS version (with the Woolsey transition patched back in) is the definitive version and I have very little faith that that will ever change.

“You got whacked cause you’re weak” is something that crosses my lips fairly often.

It’s a damn shame the DS version tried to reroll that.
