Why is this being downvoted?? This is a valid question.
We know that it surges at Republican conventions.
The post implies but does not actually show us that this is disproportionate to other congregations.

When is the year of the linux phone
what is this idea of “thin phone”??? A thick phone could fit more battery and specs and better camera

Forums are only sort of social media
There is less focus on users and more on topics, and they have more practical uses than social media
But still, Lemmy is social media, I guess.
Then people move to Linux
If implemented this should only apply to paid OS’s or ones where a licence comes with the hardware
No license is needed for Linux
forcing people to support a project for Y amount of years would really harm indie developers releasing Linux distros and the like
Solution: implement as consumer protection that only applies to paid OS’s (and also ones that require a license, even if it’s “free” due to coming with the hardware)
Better laws would be:
Mandatory open source public domain release at EOS.
At Win10 EOS, people would make Windows distros, and ReactOS would no longer have to be a clean room implementation.
Also this would be a success for Stop Killing Games.
Proton is not a linux distribution it is a compatibility layer for Windows apps to run on Linux.
For a linux beginner I’d recommend Linux Mint definitely.
Your “Games are the only software that it is acceptable to pay for” take is based
VPNs are not a good option. Use Tor. The problem with VPNs is that you can’t prove that logs aren’t kept, companies are not trustworthy. A “VPN” is a “Virtual Private Network” and the system is intended for accessing a private network, not for accessing the internet. “VPN” companies’s products are not VPNs they are encrypted proxies.
