Maybe if I was in Vancouver I’d go to all the coffeeshops in walking distance and ask the owners of they’d be up for putting up a poster saying Hootsuite supports ICE on the window. 13·2 days agoMeh, New England alone is 15 million people. I would much rather see them become independent republics than having to integrate millions of Americans into Canada. Then we can create a North American Union with Schengen and shared international common institutions. Make our own EU with blackjack and hookers.
Doing evil shit should have a social cost. We need to be boycotting and generally making the life difficult for any canadian company profiteering from trumpist fascism.

Excellent comment overall, with the exception of the Roman history bit that is not accurate. Beyond that one bit, hundred percent agree.
Roman history
Tacitus cites Calgacus, a scottish chief: “To ravage, to slaughter, to usurp under false titles, they call empire, and where they make a desert, they call it peace.” Rome did not win minds first and offer peace after, unless you immediately capitulated. If you didn’t immediately open your gates and submit, they first defeated you militarily, they butchered you and enslaved you. Then they gave your land to their veterans. And yes, several decades later you’d be “pacified”. From Corinth, to Gaul, to Jerusalem, to Dacia, just to name the ones that come to mind. It was not pretty.
And the expansion of Roman citizenship was not part of this process by the way. The first expansion followed the Social War and was only given to latin allies who had not forcefully demanded it. After that it trickled to the various client elites, until the edict of Caracalla, which came after the borders of the empire had been stable for about a century and it was arguably only done to allow the state to expand its tax base.
I personally know of more cases of European trained doctors having moved here and then returning to Europe due to long processes of getting recognition of credentials than of Canadian-trained doctors leaving in the first place.

We are all angry, but lashing out at Americans in Canada is a profoundly stupid thing to do.
This was a historic speech and I sincerely hope the European leaders get the message. It was also very surprising to hear him lay bare the problem with the old world order and talking about a new one that would live up to its ideals. There is more to Carney than I thought.
I still oppose many of his domestic policies that I consider too right wing. But that’s what a democracy is about.
Hope you beat this thing as quickly and smoothly as possible, so I can be annoyed at your modding style again! Jokes aside, take care, all the best wishes for a successful recovery that is very boring and predictable.
