Hillary Clinton’s campaign was poorly run, but she didn’t invent Trump or get millions of people to vote for him. Trump was set up by 25+ years of extremist Republican media - people like Limbaugh, Murdoch, O’Reilly - and enabled by the “liberal” mainstream media, who wouldn’t stop talking about his stupid shit for the 2 years leading up to the campaign, and are doing the same thing this time.

Seriously, hearing him talk for 2 minutes in 2015 I was “wow, what the fuck is wrong with the this guy?”. I can’t fathom how anyone would have ever voted for him for any reason whatsoever, but somehow people come up with explanations.

If people wanted to pay me to make their project, I’d consider it. But usually I’ve gotten people who think I’m going to work on their “idea” for months with no investment or compensation, then release it and cut them in.

There’s a maxim in the startup community that ideas are worthless. Tons of people have ideas. The value is in executing them. As a former entrepreneur I talked to a dozen people with a plan like “I have this amazing idea! You do it, then give me half the money!!” Uh, no. I’d rather work on my own plans, thanks.

Of course Trump wanted to do one of his usual “omg witch hunt” speeches. He didn’t seem to realize that the trial was already over, and in the penalty phase, or that the speech would not be on TV. The email chain between Trump’s incompetent lawyer (who had previously been reported on as one of his ‘good’ ones) was hilarious but also just sad, I mean, the guy can’t even be bothered to capitalize words starting sentences and the request to ‘delay until Jan 29th because Melania’s parent died’ is ludicrously transparent. Anyway, his lawyer needs to be fined or formally censured some more.

Lets see, I just looked it up in the city I lived in and no. No permit to replace in the same location, but a license is required for people who don’t live in the house where the work is being performed. I wasn’t remotely qualified to do that especially in less than 18 hours, though. My realtor ended up finding a plumber who could come the next morning.

Reminds me of when someone came to fix my bathroom floor, which had a hole in it the entire time my house was on the market because some morons from Home Depot who ruined it were disputing whether they’d fix it. So this guy removed the toilet and sink, finished the bathroom floor, awesome… then he said “oh, I can remove the toilet and sink, but I’m not licensed to put them back, sorry” and left. This was the day before closing.

Yes, the people who call themselves leftists or communists (on lemmy for instance) often use ‘liberal’ to mean Classic Liberal or Neoliberal, which basically means free-market capitalist. That’s the definition used in Europe. It’s confusing because it is not at all what we mean in the US. Though Democratic Party politicians are definitely mostly capitalist, we use Liberal to refer to being left on social issues in particular, and sometimes also economics.

What kind of weird opposite shit is this? Liberals? Liberals tend to be criticizing Israel and decrying civilian deaths and criticizing Israel, while conservatives are supporting the (far-right) govt. of Israel.

It’s very unfortunate what happened to this girl. I don’t understand though how having a serious heart condition, she didn’t read the sign that said “as much caffeine as coffee” or “guarana and green coffee”. I have a few food related conditions and I read or research absolutely everything I consume at a restaurant.

Well, that sure is fucked up. I’m afraid we’re just starting to see the worst of this.
