I’m sorry but that doesn’t seem logical. If you don’t care about general good state of things, why would you care about the majority? People refer to democracy as a good thing because the US showed how it improves the system, lives etc.

The equality aspect itself is what I’d like to support. But when you find the majority being uneducated to understand what they are doing - something is going wrong with our assumptions about how things should work. An idiot should not be highly respected. A criminal should not have the power over people’s lives. These things should have been more basic than democracy principles in everyone’s mind, no?

That reasoning is missing a crucial part: even if you’re fucked anyway, why is it still okay to put a criminal in charge? Will it improve anything? Or do we think of the “fucked” condition very differently?

Developers have full control over servers in most cases. A viable server side anti cheat should be a thing. For every case of “client sending false data to server” we can come up with a solution to verify that to some degree. Finally, it should help a lot to rely on player generated reports and utilize replay recording on server.

But no, developers will continue to rely on 3rd party solutions (made by people who never developed a game), even infect their co-op-only games with it, and complain “uh oh we can’t handle Linux cheaters”.

They have no idea how the game code should really work for everyone to not be affected by something that is injected inside (and they are injecting a lot - some executables get inflated by more than 1 gb I think).

That’s also a lie. There is no way it would be impossible to remove the protection code (or parts of it) or make it not execute. That alone makes him a clown.

Gaza population was steadily increasing for all these years. This doesn’t bode well with the “prison” sentiment in my opinion. They had institutions. They could teach their own population. Their actions could be more logical. Instead it seems they’ve been spreading terrorist propaganda (literally pushing their children to become merciless terrorists) and spending resources on building offensive tech instead of defenses. I can not justify actions of Israel (though I can understand why the ground operation was started) but there is no way I can agree that actions of hamas had any logical ground.

I didn’t mean to say anything that Israel did was okay. But a lot of it is understandable, e.g. the ground operation was very well expected by everyone when it became clear the hostages are not getting released. No matter how you look at it, Gaza was not ready.

And if we consider the October attack itself, only some of it is understandable (“they couldn’t bear with oppression any longer” sentiment, which itself is problematic at best).

That didn’t worth it in my opinion. The level of international support is nowhere enough. And again, they could build defenses to decrease the number of victims.

Also the premise of “Israel is a monster” sentiment is hugely weakened by the monstrosity of the October attack itself.

There are chances the outcome would be different if hamas released hostages, or didn’t attack Israel on October 7th. Those things were not smart. It didn’t serve any good purpose. A smarter thing would have been to prepare for such an attack from Israel by building defenses to protect civilians at the very least.

Until they realize they can get you faster if they run in opposite directions.

Steam getting better isn’t linked to anyone becoming a billionaire. That sentiment sounds like people can’t stop looking for things to blame Valve for.

Is it too difficult to accept that every single company failed in competing with Steam? I’d say they didn’t even try their best (especially Epic). Must’ve assumed that just serving a website with a web app is all they needed to get as rich as Gabe.

A replacement isn’t a clone

You know I wasn’t asking for a replacement. You’re suggesting e2ee-first software to people who might not really need it in the first place.

Personally, when I think about all the quirks and requirements that must be met for some chat to happily accept a new member in a e2ee scheme, I get mad. My daily chats, gifs and cat photos aren’t worth everyone’s effort and discomfort.

Also, I use WhatsApp not because I like it but because it’s easier than forcing dozens of people to use something else. I hate it because of how it works, and it doesn’t have anything to do with e2ee part (it’s worthless for stuff I use WhatsApp for). I like that it dropped electron though - I value my ram.

That’s wrong. There is no plaintext transfer. While a lot of stuff can potentially happen on server every second as you said, it doesn’t happen according to them. I don’t trust that fully either but that’s their argument. You can look up encryption schemes in their faq.

Where something publicly exists anyone can set up a local archive to capture anything, regardless of what’s available at the moment of joining the chat. Also telegram has such a setting too. It’s useless when someone really wants to get you. They won’t need an access to telegram servers to get you.

In their explanation it was specifically stated that it should be either impossible or too difficult. Keeping keys and content separately, that’s what it’s about iirc. Either way the point of telegram is not in privacy for everyone. You trade protection for convenience (cloud data and great clients), and if you want you can use secret chats. That’s it. Seeing their user base, it suits most people. We’ll see if their server data gets leaked or something, though it didn’t happen yet.

You’re still missing the fact that public chats can’t be adequately protected.

It’s just doesn’t really enhance privacy like E2E and I find it disingenuous to say “my chat app is encrypted” when you mean server encryption not E2E.
