DACH - Deutschsprachige Community für Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz@feddit.org•Ukraine-Krieg und Iran-Krieg: Wie Medien mit zweierlei Maß berichten | Telepolis
2·6 days agoIch erinnere mich gut daran. An dem Abend hatte die Tagesschau 30s Zeit um über einen Barbesitzer in TelAviv zu berichten der seine Bar samt Inventar verloren hat. Die Schule wurde erst am nächsten Tag erwähnt.

World News@lemmy.world•Uproar in Germany over law requiring men get military approval for long stays abroadEnglish
5·9 days agoNot quite, this particular paragraph was identical in the cold war era but the other paragraphs, mainly defining when it is in effect and when not, were changed. This made the law applicable since January 1st of this year. So previously this rule was only applicable during war or “conflicting times” and now it always is.

YSK that Vaseline, or petroleum jelly, is a fossil fuel derivative. It should also never be used as a lubricant with condoms, it can mess with the latex and make it break more easily.

Europe@feddit.org•Would you accept or refuse the draft if your country decided to reinstate it?English
6·20 days agoI will fight to defend our rights to express ourselves, love who we want, be who we want.
The biggest and most immediate threat to these values are our governments. Implementing surveillance policies under the disguise of protecting children, while failing to bring those to justice that are actually harming them. (Epstein is the current example, the abuse in the church has been known for decades more)
Corrupt politicians are representing the ultra rich and multinationals instead of the people, funneling our tax money into their own pockets and blaming immigrants and asylum seekers when underfunded infrastructure fails. Fueling the fire that enables the political shift to the right without any regard for the consequences.
In short… the answer is NO, there is no government worth fighting for. There is no government that represents me.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is Switzerland expensive for American travelers?
10·21 days agoEating out is expensive, I would recommend at least Fr.150 per person per day for food. That should cover 2-3 meals and a coffee, sweet treat, etc.
In Europe it’s normal that supermarket prices are significantly cheaper than restaurants. The people preparing our food deserve a living wage.
Sure there will be some fancy ski hut waiting for someone rich or drunk enough to shell out 100k for booze, but just because it exists doesn’t mean it’s the norm.

Boycott US@lemmy.ca•Is anyone even still doing the boycot? I havent seen any news about it in a long while. all i know is im still goingEnglish
8·21 days ago100% and it’s fully normalised now, I’ve even switched to UK English spelling myself and on all my devices.
My parents’ iMacs are running Linux and everyone is drinking local Kola. My focus is now on encouraging friends and family to join in and helping where I can. (mostly the tech stuff) I also like to throw US and Israeli products to the back of the shelves in supermarkets. Even made some ‘Buy European’ stickers to put over barcodes.
