Yes! Also the December release of Catodon will support both Bookwyrm and NeoDB reviews. I know that people are looking for a suggestion for now, but we need a month (although it will come sooner in develop, in November).

@artyom@piefed.social yes, I had talked to Rimu (who’s really cool) when I was making the implementation, to make sure we do the same. I’m just saying, if you see two reactions where there should be one, let me know so I can look at it. In general, if you see anything that looks like a bug, send me a dm or mention me (or find me on our matrix room or file an issue on our repo!) so that I can see it and fix it :psi_hearts:

@artyom@piefed.social @Lojcs@piefed.social that’s probably because piefed doesn’t support custom emoji (or at least custom emoji that are compatible with misskey and akkoma, like we do).

@artyom@piefed.social the first thing that came to my mind for the inconsistency is that other platforms give an upvote automatically to new topics, from the author, but in catodon we don’t do that, each topic starts with no score and self upvotes are not allowed.
But if piefed genuinely shows the same reaction from you twice, it might be worth looking into. If you provide more info I can take a look, thanks!

In many ways - several features are gone, several have been added. Some of the main ones, I guess, are federated forums (compatible with Lemmy/Piefed), federated blogs, an RSS feed, following hashtags, and customizable timelines. We’re also trying to make it easier for new users, with familiar terminology etc.

Thank you! :psi_hearts:

huh, I didn’t realize it had a paywall because Brave shows it just fine here…

yeah, you’re not wrong…

I found it funny that the page says “Give us your email to read the full story”

But what happens when a link target changes? For example, I’ve seen news articles change as the author gets new information. Might be an edge case, but a solution like this would always show the preview at the time of the initial post.

we’re also always open to suggestions, so if there’s any particular feature from Pillowfort that you’re missing, we’d seriously consider it, if it fits our direction. In any case I’d love to hear your feedback if you get around to trying it.

lol, I said this kinda jokingly in another comment, but you may actually want to try Catodon (disclaimer: I’m the maintainer), “the child of Mastodon and Lemmy” sounds pretty close to what we’re doing (among others)

I never heard of those to be described as close to Tumblr. If we’re suggesting nice fedi platforms in general, I would suggest Catodon, which I maintain 😁

I don’t know what to tell you, I never used any of those, but Wafrn is the one Fediverse platform that I know that presents itself as “Tumblr-inspired”. Don’t know if there are others, but this one’s the most popular for sure. It also connects with Bluesky.

I have not used it, but wafrn is supposed to be a federated tumblr alternative.

A custom emoji (used as a reaction here), perhaps they don’t work on piefed.

Thank you! Yes, I have already investigated these options and rejected automatic detection for them for the reasons you mention. Anyone can still suggest specific communities manually, through the suggestion form.

both implemented

Right - I have no idea how I forgot the Fediverse Observer! I think it’s because I have mostly used it for viewing microblogging software, so when I decided to build a threadiverse catalog, my mind only went to indexes specifically for the threadiverse. Adding it now, thanks!
