Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Lemmy, what are some offline activities that bring you joy and help you unwind?
2·8 days agodude thank you this is very cool! I’ve noticed the forest meeting the field being interesting but hadn’t thought past that

NZ Politics@lemmy.nz•Left bloc may be able to form government latest poll suggests
3·10 days agoGreen has wildly better policies imo:
- wealth tax
- public transport
- free dental
- an actual commitment to the environment (the thing that makes NZ really special)
only thing they really seem to suck at is marketing themselves, though I do admit I prefer seeing less gauche billboards

3·11 days agoI was going for forest walks at the time to help deal with my depression and for some reason just tried to be as quiet as possible one day. It was the best and I realized I didn’t actually like the fitness part of the walk. Being as slow and quiet as possible felt much better

NZ Politics@lemmy.nz•Lets Build NZ - Build for generations, not elections.
4·14 days agoGreat stuff. should be a legal requirement - transparency is sorely missing across the board. it should be super easy for anyone to see where every dollar goes

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•[AIP] besstiolle/Timeline: my own tool for organizing my timeline diagrams
1·1 month agoYou’re very welcome! Just to be clear, these are the types of dependencies I was thinking:
- this task can only end a set time after that task ends (the cleaning of the job site can start during the job, but can’t end until the job does)
- this task can start after that task has started (I can start processing lab data after the first experiments have come in - I don’t have to wait to the end)
etc.!
I think it should be possible to define many dependencies / constraints and have the program simply freeze and flag when there are conflicts due to overdefining. I’m sure there’s a way to calculate the degrees of freedom, though the math isn’t something I can be bothered with rn haha

6·1 month agoif you do Gantt charts, please make sure you implement as many dependency types as possible - most of the power of gantt charts lies in how depencies allow for changing one thing and having automatic adjustment of the entire timeline, but almost all of the tools I’ve used have only implemented “this task starts when that task ends” which is infuriating
just want to update you I finally got it working - thanks so much for your help! 🙏

Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•MIT Study shows EV's reduce lifetime emissions by 40-60% after factoring in everything including mining and efficiency loss.
6·1 month agono. I’ve seen recent studies that showed that driving your existing petrol car or buying used is still environmentally worse than getting an electric car. Not to say that I’m buying electric - I can’t afford it.

I won’t be searching for this to prove you wrong. you made the claim, so the burden of proof is on you.

I can’t comment on repairability nor spyware, as I have no idea

Thank you! I’m away today but I’ll try these soon, hopefully they fix it!
I struggled with everything else and had to use exiftool to get things working
yeah I also have issues leading back to my ISP
I think it varies massively by ISP. my ISP has not implemented IPv6 properly so it causes all sorts of grief for me
