To say the least, I’ll have to buy a 900 USD device and use it for 10 years instead of buying 3x300 USD devices each 3 year. This is the current situation with most phones and tablets which come from China.

The road to perfection is step by step. And sometimes you have two terrible choices, and you have to choose the one which is less bad.

So far the best option seems to be going for macbook air. It is easier to find one.

Thanks! I will keep this in mind.

As I researched online, I’m not sure if I can boot from microSD. But most likely I will be able to put from USB. It could be /boot on USB and the rest on uSD. But I will have to buy an expensive uSD to get at least like 150MB/s
If I go this way, the advantage is that I can get an old macbook air with broken SSD working. And since the SSD is not normally replaceable, this means excellent bargaining chance for me :)))

Lenovo x200 series could be a good option. But it is not as small and light as I want. But maybe in the end I go for x200 or x100 series. Then replace the battery and the charging circuit etc

Same here :D

No I love this answer and also yuman’s :D

Thank you so much for this! Why 2015? Why not 2013? Also, isn’t it possible to boot them from microSD? I’m looking for a sub 12" device.

These cheap Windows tablets with Atom come de facto with a physical keyboard. Or… are these also something gone along netbooks?

Too small screen!

Too expensive!

I already have a 14". It’s too big for a portable device I would carry exactly everywhere. I use it as me home PC, till I get a real new one, as well as portable computer during travels.
The thing is, a 14" laptop cannot be used in bus, train, waiting room, etc. Sometimes a thought or idea comes and I have to write it. Sometimes I have to write down the stuff other people talk about.

Thank you for your suggestion. I am a developer there and I can tell them about this. However, they will whitelist your username not your IP. So you can email them.

You can email Loki or other admins to unblock you. I also use a proxy through me VPS in SE to connect to the server. Your land is a building survival server.
The fun is in CTF which is FPS-like :))
Thank you! Noted!
As a member of the community, I won’t have a problem if the interactions with LLMs are only with open source ones, and the conversation is available as open data to all, without restrictions. The same which CommonVoice does for Voice.
Data matters so much that the companies keep it to themselves. And I absolutely don’t want the data to be used for training models which enslave the developers and the people of this planet. The least is that data should be open to all, so the FOSS community would have a chance to use the data to contribute back to FOSS.
Note that it doesn’t matter if the model is open source. For Machine Learning the data matters as much as the code does, if not more. And in this case, data matters much much more. The code is widely available and can also get researched independently.

In your blog you can write tutorials. Or if you had trouble getting something done, you can write how did you do it. They will be good useful notes for other people, possibly including your future self :)
Good point! But unlike cars, maybe there could be multiple vendors for the same part? Then it should drag the price down. That’s already the case about many Apple accessories.
